Orphan Black Season 4: Watch the First Four Minutes (and a Pre-Pilot Beth?!)

Orphan Black is kicking it old school — like, before-the-series’-pilot old school — in its Season 4 premiere.

BBC America on Thursday released the first four minutes of the upcoming season opener, which premieres Thursday, April 14, at 10/9c.

You’ll note that the clip’s action centers on Beth and seems to take place before the events of the sci-fi drama’s first episode. Dylan Bruce’s Paul is there, as well — he makes his appearance in the sneak peek just after Beth receives a mysterious phone call warning her not to trust those close to her.

Press PLAY on the video above to get a jump on the episode, then hit the comments with your thoughts and predictions for the season!

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    Oh Paul 😭

  2. I admit I’m kind of excited to see Tatiana playing Sarah again but – men kissing! shock! homosexuals = evil and perversion! Oh show, I expected better of you….

    Maybe Paul isn’t dead…

Stopped watching last season after being obsessed and convincing family and friends to watch the show. Paul is making an appearance so I’ll check out this season but I don’t have much hope of returning to the season 1 glory.

I wrote this summary of unanswered questions at the end of season 3 just as a reminder:
Dyad seems to have at least two competing divisions, probably a third that is just the profit making pharma/agribusiness side.

I’m not entirely sure, but it seems “Topside” has been the main power, the people seemingly in control of the whole company. “Neolution” was basically an R&D division kept around to create and research “body mods” and other ways to improve humanity in general.

Apparently, at some point in the past there was a philosophical division among the “Neolution” group over human cloning experiments that got deadly.

The pro clone side led by the Duncans, were either killed or went into hiding. This is probably about the time that Ethan Duncan contacted Kendall Malone and told her what happened, and how the one anonymous clone Sarah ended up in Ms. S’s care.

Neolution lost the cloning technology but continues to monitor the known clones. Topside took control and put a puppet in charge: Dr. Leekie. Last season’s FUBAR resulted in Topside boss Marian Bowles shutting down Neolution and firing Leekie. She is also the one that discovered another set of clones Topside didn’t know about: Castor.

Topside’s role in season 3 was to clean up the mess left by Leekie and the Neolutionists, which includes the Leda clones. At the end of season 2, Dr. Bowles reached out to Sarah to be an ally, but Ferdinand, the black ops side of Topside, saw her as a problem.

Ferdinand changed his mind on the revelation that Neolution is responsible for Castor as well, because it means Topside doesn’t have control of Neolution at all.

Charlotte was living with Dr. Bowles, and we suddenly find her living with Susan Duncan, who producers confirm is definitely on the side of Neolution. How Charlotte got there is an unanswered question.

    Other questions include:
    What happened to Crystal?

Is Delphine dead and who shot her? (far out speculation: Did Crystal shoot Delphine? Maybe she blames her for her kidnapping and got revenge? Shay is a more likely suspect, or a Prolethian or Neolutionist we have met before?)

Is it true that Mark is the last surviving Castor clone? (I’m guessing no)

Topside and Clone Club both have blood and tissue samples of the original, how long before Neolution and Castor get it too?

Can they make a cure for the Castor and Leda plagues to save Cosima, Mark, and anyone else that gets sick?

We are still not sure what the Prolethians connection/interest in all of this is.

Does Felix have a genetic connection to any of this, or does his story of getting adopted by Ms. S completely unrelated?

And the big unanswered: “Why clone humans in the first place?”

Next season, Neolution will be the bad guys apparently, and we are likely to see many body modified and bionic villains.
