March BADness: Norman Bates vs. Pelant, Joe Carroll vs. Dexter Morgan in Bloody Easter Sunday Brawls

It’s. About. To Go. Down. With fisticuffs, firearms and deliciously brutal one-liners.

We’re officially in Round 3 of TVLine’s March BADness Bracket Tournament, and the small screen’s greatest villains will not rest until they’ve reduced their rivals to a pile of ashes (or suffered the same fate themselves).

Yes, we’re down to just 16 of the most ruthless, horrible, evil, and occasionally delicious ruffians, rapscallions and reprobates ever to appear on television — and we want you to tell us who’s the baddest of ’em all.

Over the next week, we’ll be putting up two posts per day asking you to winnow down the field to one ultimate villain. So find a seat in our online Thunderdome, head down to our polls to vote for your favorites (Round 3 voting will be open for 24 hours), then hit the comments to justify your picks.

Our latest matchups include Joe Carroll from The Following against Dexter‘s Dexter Morgan, and Bones‘ Pelant versus Norman Bates from Bates Motel.

CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE 64-PLAYER BRACKET (then click again for a zoomed-in view) — and keep coming back to TVLine over the next week to see how March BADness plays out. Now ready, set, vote!

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Mr. Tran K says:

    Dexter Morgan and Norman Bates

  2. Rob TO says:

Wait! Joe Carroll beat Hannibal Lecter? I guess the Hannibal fans truly have disappeared.

  3. splusm says:

It seems like an error was made. Those with lower percentages advanced.

    • Wordsmith says:

If you check the actual poll page, Dexter beat Trinity 52.79% to 47.21%, and Joe Carroll beat Hannibal 59.4% to 40.6%.
Given the unexpected result of that Carroll/Hannibal match-up, and the wide margin of victory, I’d guess that some funny business was involved, but it’s an internet poll, so occasional hijacking (by computer savvy fans who care a bit too much) is normal.

  4. Tea says:

In the picture Hannibal got 81%. Trinity Killer got 62%.

So it SHOULD be Hannibal vs Trinity Killer

and Killer Bob vs Bloody Face

    • DW says:

That’s the percentage they got me in the round before to show how they advanced, for how much Hannibal beat Chris Keller by getting 81% and that is how he ended up against Joe Carroll, they just haven’t updated to show how much Joe beat him by for the next round

  5. piebokou says:

To me Dexter is more of an Anti-Hero rather than a villain so I’m not voting for him.

  6. Cas says:

I mean Dexter technically killed bad guys. Yes there were a few instances where he killed good guys but Joe Carroll killed anyone.

  7. adabyssum says:

oh interesting, all of a sudden no massive Joe Caroll fandom around anymore? This looks more and more like a another fandom voted for him in the match against Hannibal. Hannibal was ahead there with 80% almost the whole duration of the match and then suddenly there was a massive surge for Joe Caroll, so how come Joe is losing now? Was he a pushover? TVLine should have a closer look at this.

    • JM says:

Absolutely! Definitely some foul play!! I thought Hannibal would win the whole thing. To me, he is the ultimate villain. I mean, he EATS his victims!
