Thunderbirds Gets U.S. Launch Date

The reanimated Thunderbirds are ready for takeoff.

Thunderbirds Are Go, a remake of the 1960s British television series which consists of a unique mixture of CGI animation and live-action model sets, will make its Stateside debut on Amazon Prime Friday, April 15, it was announced Thursday.

Following a one-hour sneak preview entitled “Rings of Fire Parts 1 and 2,” the 13-episode Season 1 will be made available to binge in its entirety on April 22. Three additional seasons have already been ordered by Amazon (some of which have already aired across the pond).

Academy Award-nominated actress Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) voices Lady Penelope in an ensemble that also includes Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Phineas and Ferb) and Rasmus Hardiker (Danger Mouse).

This new take on the heroic series follows the five Tracy brothers — Scott, John, Virgil, Gordon and Alan — as they “pilot their remarkable, cutting-edge Thunderbird vehicles from the depths of the oceans to the highest reaches of space, performing impossible rescues across the globe.”
