Criminal Minds Shemar Moore Leaving

Video: Criminal Minds Team Bids Sad Farewell to Exiting Cast Member

The cast and showrunner of Criminal Minds commemorate this week’s major send-off, in a new video shared by CBS.

In this Wednesday’s episode — the crime drama’s 251st — Derek Morgan’s story came to a close when, after both he and pregnant fiancée Savannah were targeted by an Unsub, the BAU agent (played by original cast member Shemar Moore) decided to call it a day on his dangerous career and focus on being a family man. Cue a tour of goodbye moments, each sadder than the next.

In a statement, showrunner Erica Messer said of Moore’s decision to move on and “grow,” “We have nothing but love and respect for him and his choice. But it doesn’t mean we can’t also be really, really sad.”

In the video below, Messer and her cast share their favorite memories of Moore, from his “pretty face” and abs to the energy he brought to the set each day. And again, his abs. (If you have a burning Q for Messer, ping me at the email address below.)

So was this the blind item about a star leaving a show?

  2. Whatevah says:

*sniff* My Derek’s keep leaving me!

What’s next for Shemar Moore – another prime time TV gig or maybe just maybe a return to Y&R.

According to another site he’s getting into the production side of things. He already co-starred and produced a movie called The Bounce Back.

Damn, this episode was intense and SAD!! Morgan gone, Dinozzo gone from NCIS WTF. Oh well you never know they could bring him back as a guest like next wk with Printiss coming back.

No reason to watch. Spencer hardly gets any air time – go episodes without seeing him, Hotch is always in the background – like wallpaper, Rossi, meh (still miss Mandy, nothing against Joe, but Gideon character was better IMO), Garcia & JJ … delightful when used, which isn’t often. Seems like the show is more and more about the unsub and not the characters we grew to love. Have not watched NCIS since Ziva left, looks like CM will also be one I don’t have to watch anymore. Sad.

Apparently Matthew Gray Gubler’s contract allows him to be absent for several episodes this season so he can work on other projects.

Such sweet (and funny!) comments from the cast and Erica. MGG’s thoughts on Shemar in particular were lovely, and Kirsten trying to hold back her emotions got me all choked up again! I love how close this cast is, and I love that they made this little goodbye video to honor him :).
