The Tick Reboot: Peter Serafinowicz to Star in Amazon Pilot

A Shaun of the Dead star is helping Amazon bring The Tick back to life.

Peter Serafinowicz — a British actor whose Stateside TV resumé includes roles on Archer, Running Wilde and Parks and Recreation — will play the titular crimefighter in the previously announced Amazon pilot, our sister Deadline reports.

Amazon’s Tick reboot is being written and executive-produced by Ben Edlund, creator of both the 1994 animated series and the 2001 Patrick Warburton-led Fox comedy. In this latest incarnation, the Tick suffers from a bout of amnesia before reuniting with sidekick Arthur (Vinyl‘s Griffin Newman).

Valorie Curry (The Following) has also joined the pilot as Arthur’s sister Dot.

Do you think Serafinowicz has what it takes to fill the Tick’s iconic blue suit? Drop a comment with your thoughts on this casting below.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Even though I’m not interested in this show, I think that is excellent casting.

  2. Chris says:

That is just horrible miscasting! They should’ve hired an actor who’s big and buff in the vein of Patrick Warburton to play The Tick!

Well, until it’s shot and we all get to take a look at it, there’s really only one thing to say…

    SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

  4. LE says:

He looks a lot like Anthony Head (Giles)

  5. Jeremy Wilhm says:

Serafinowicz will definitely have the voice down, if not the physical “bulk” of The Tick. Maybe the mask will look more like the cartoon, with the large white eyes covering the top part if his face, instead if what they did with Warburton.

I was trying to remember where I knew him from. Realised it was Spy. He was excellent in that. I think he could be a good casting choice. I’m sad that they don’t have Patrick who I will always have a soft spot for in whatever he does, but they can’t have him, so with that in mind I think this might be good.

    RIP The Tick.
