Easter came a week early to Fox via Tyler Perry’s The Passion: New Orleans, and the two-hour musical event kicked off with everyone’s favorite holiday hymn: David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over” (featuring Kelly Rowland).
But neither the French DJ nor the Child of Destiny were on hand to perform the timeless worship jam; that honor went to Grammy Award-winning gospel queen Yolanda Adams, whose powerhouse vocals set the stage for (what I assume will be) an unforgettable night of rock ‘n’ roll ‘n’ resurrection.
Starring Jencarlos Canela as the man of the hour, The Passion puts a 21st-century spin on the story of Jesus Christ’s final days on Earth. The musical also stars Trisha Yearwood as Mary, Prince Royce as Peter, Chris Daughtry as Judas Iscariot, Seal as Pontius Pilate.
