Vikings Sneak Peek: King Ecbert Has a Brutally Honest Talk... With God

Holy honesty.

Tonight on Vikings (History, 10/9c), King Ecbert agrees to support Kwenthrith in Mercia, raising all kinds of questions — some of which he lays out in this illuminating sneak peek.

Appealing to God, Ecbert (played by Linus Roache) is atypically honest (and a bit vulnerable), copping to being a sinner in the Lord’s eyes. And yet, he argues, he does try. That said, he is most frank about to what ends — and what alliances — he might sink to achieve his “Earthly goals.”

Elsewhere in the episode “Promised,” there’s an air of betrayal at Court in Paris and Wessex as those whom Odo trusts plot against him, while Ragnar confides in Yidu his darkest secret.

Ecbert can do whatever he wants as long as Aethelwulf and Queen Crazy Kwen come out of it okay. Oddly, I’m enamored with those two crazy kids finding each other.

Cannot wait for Rollo and Ragnar to meet again. I think Rollo might finally succeed in killing Ragnar by causing him to laugh himself to death once he sees his brother all Frenchified.
