I Am Cait Ratings

Ratings: I Am Cait Returns to Series Low, Downton Abbey Ends on High Note

The Americans failed to make the podium, while the British team brought home the gold in Sunday night’s ratings Olympics.

The Season 2 premiere of I Am Cait pulled in only 745,000 viewers — down almost two-thirds from the 2.7 million it drew for its series premiere last July, and also off significantly from the 1.3 million its Season 1 finale nabbed.

The E! docuseries, which follows Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) living her life as a transgender woman, drew controversy over its star’s recent endorsement of evangelical Christian Republican Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign.

On the flip side of the ratings scene, Downton Abbey‘s series finale averaged 9.6 million viewers — up 14 percent from its Season 5 ender — marking the PBS drama’s most-watched finale ever. Two wins for Lady Edith in one week? Go on with your bad self!

So what you’re saying is there aren’t a lot of progressive evangelicals out there? Shocked.

    • Lucifer says:

It’s more like there aren’t many tolerant “progressives” when it comes to trans women that don’t fall in line.

      • ClearlyDemented says:

i know, right! You should be allowed to be against everybody different except yourself. In that case, you should fight for equality and understanding.

      • tvjunkie says:

Yeah pretty much. The left’s idea of tolerance is believe as they do or else they will rain hell down upon you.

        • liame says:

Right or Left, everybody behaves the same way. Conservatives want to push their hypocritical ideas of what Americans should look and act like as well Liberals. There’s no meeting in the middle when ego’s, entitlement, privilege, ignorance and closets get in the way.

          • tvjunkie says:

You don’t really understand the meaning do you? The right isn’t preaching tolerance, but the left is preaching tolerance and they are just as if not more intolerant. That’s why the left is full of hypocrites. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to making going off on tangent to a completely different subject.

  2. The Beach says:

The bigger question is why are there 745,000 people actually interested enough to tune in to this?

    • Jennifer says:

      Ha! You win today!

    • JScout says:

Yes, and this is true of all “reality” programming. Why? These people have no talent, no anything. Why do people want to watch and laugh or watch and hope for ‘drama’. All of it is disgusting.

    • tvjunkie says:

I was going to say perhaps some of those people fell asleep in front of the TV and they just happened to play while they slept, but then I realized 95% of what is on E! is no better than this drivel, if the programming guide is anything to go by, so why would anyone be tuned into E! in the first place.

  3. Larc says:

What about I Am Cait is even minimally entertaining? If I’m going to watch a witch on TV, it has to be one that has at least a little talent.

  4. LT says:

Downtown Abbey finale was soooo satisfying. Miss it already.

  5. Rafael Ted Cruz says:

Poor Cait. You endorse an idiot, and the people will leave you. Oh wait, they probably just got sick of her agenda being shoved down their throats.

  6. Marla Maples says:

Perhaps when Caitlyn is the “Trans Ambassador” for our next President Ted Cruz, her viewership will increase?

LMAO! I couldn’t even TYPE that with a straight face!

  7. Melody says:

A Ted Cruz presidency would be even a worse disaster than Donald Trump. America was not meant to become a theocracy.
