Downton Abbey: John Legend Performs 'Honest Lyrics' for Show's Theme Song

Grammy winner John Legend has some very strong opinions about Downton Abbey‘s “loser” Edith and “witch”-y Grandmama.

The R&B vocalist came dressed to the nines for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday where he provided lyrics for the “very white” British soap opera’s instrumental theme, skewering the Dowager Countess of Grantham and the period drama’s total lack of diversity.

Legend’s LOL performance — which can be viewed above — came on the heels of the PBS phenom’s series finale on Sunday night.

Watch the video and then hit the comments with an answer to this question: Will you ever be able to listen to the Downton theme the same way again?

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    A swing and a miss…

Only two errors in the song–they did have one friend who was black (and a musician), and Grandmama was played by Shirley Maclaine (Granny was played by Maggie Smith).

She’s a witch, therefore she needs to get laid.
    Happy International Women’s Day everyone

Are we really going to ignore the fact that this theme song already has a version with lyrics and it’s called “Did I Make the Most of Loving You”

Yes. Just listened to it, and it’s beautiful. Sung by Mary-Jess with lyrics by Don Black. Available on the Downton soundtrack.

    Poor Edith.

I didn’t think that could possibly suck as bad as the comments would suggest… and I was wrong! Awful!
