Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Special: Original '80s Turtles Return in New Clip

Nickelodeon is staging a major reunion (of sorts) later this month. We just hope the network ordered enough pizza to go around.

The March 27 episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (11/10c), titled “Trans-Dimensional Turtles,” finds the famous foursome — Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo — traveling to another dimension, where they encounter alternate versions of themselves from the original 1980s Ninja Turtles cartoon.

Cam Clarke (Leonardo), Rob Paulsen (Raphael), Barry Gordon (Donatello) and Townsend Coleman (Michelangelo) all return to voice their respective turtles, with Pat Fraley also coming back to voice the nefarious Krang. Together, the eight turtles will jump between their animated and CGI dimensions as they battle Krang and Kraang Sub-Prime.

Hit PLAY on the preview clip above, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the reunion below.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    Cowabunga!

  2. Eric says:

Wow. What a clever idea that they did a few years ago. This was done in a TV movie already.

    • peterwdawson says:

Yeah and now they have to try and make up for that horrible ‘celebration.’

    • VIkram says:

That’s true but in Turtles Forever, the ’87 Turtles were treated like party animals without a clue for the whole movie…also, the original voice cast wasn’t represented (to be fair, this was because of union issues)! The writers of the ’12 series love and respect the ’87 series…therefore, the episode on the 27th will be infinitely better! Cowabunga!!

  3. I hope this functions as a sequel to turtles forever because that would be the only thing that would make me watch the horribly painful animation of the current version.

Maybe they could also reveal they didn’t encounter the proper 80s Turtles in Forever, that way we have a reason to watch the animation of the new show and Forever can be redeemed for its amazingly off the mark characterization.

The nine-year-old in me who used to draw trans-dimensional portals in his school notebooks just did a happy dance. And frankly, the 35-year-old he grew up to become also jumped for joy a little just now, hearing those four original voices again.

I might have to watch this episode, if only if I can tell the difference between current-Donny and past-Raph…. (NARF)

There seemed to be a reveal that there’s a 3rd dimension of Turtles coming into play so yes this may seem similar to “Turtles Forever” but it stands on it’s own two feet.
