Full Frontal's Samantha Bee Takes on Texas Abortion Laws (With a Little Help From Game of Thrones)

“Pretending the Supreme Court never ruled on abortion has been Texas’ attitude ever since Roe v. Wade,” according to Samantha Bee, and Full Frontal addressed this hot-button issue head-on Monday in a segment that examined the state’s restrictive laws.

Ahead of a decision by the Supreme Court which will rule whether or not to end legislation that has forced all but 10 Texas abortion clinics to shut down, Bee spoke with Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, and state Rep. Dan Flynn to get to the bottom of why such laws are enacted in the first place.

When it becomes clear that Flynn knows little about the abortion process, Bee turns to Game of Thrones to illustrate why he might be under the assumption that the procedure involves “cuttin’ on people’s bodies.”

All the politicians in power in this state are complete, utter morons. They care nothing about women or children.

Unfortunately for the sane, educated people of TX the repugs have fixed district lines in such a way that we may never have educated, sane people in power.

Isn’t it amazing how the conservative base can use the word Nazi when making an argument supporting a position but yet, when they choose to use building codes to prevent a sex {females}, from needing a procedure {due to personal reasons} they make it next to impossible to acquire that procedure. They, in effect, are biological terrorists that force women to conceive an unwanted pregnancy, even one based on rape, and have that child raised on the taxpayers, and forcing the woman to realize that the same politicians that cannot pass an Equal Rights Amendment, can tell women that they are not worth the consideration and that we live in a male dominated society where men can dictate to a sex what they can or cannot do with there bodies. There are no rights for women in conservative America. I am an Independent male that would not join either major party because they are bought and paid for by establishments on either side of the coin.

I love Samantha Bee. She is so funny. I wish she had been offered the Daily Show. We could see her four nights a week.

I think she has proven, along with John Oliver, that you can be more effective picking fewer, more specific battles to focus on, rather than being obligated to comment on everything, every day.
