Casey Wilson in Hail Mary

Happy Endings' Casey Wilson to Star in ABC's Hail Mary Comedy Pilot

Casey Wilson has caught ABC’s Hail Mary pass.

The Happy Endings actress has been tapped to play the title role in the half-hour comedy pilot, which centers on a young small town mayor named Mary Wolf, who has dysfunctional siblings, a dying father, disgruntled citizens, a nearly bankrupt town, and the mafia breathing down her neck. Only a miracle can help her. So… she fakes one.

Based on the Austrian series Braunschlag, the potential series was written by The McCarthys creator Brian Gallivan and directed by Seth Gordon.

Wilson, who most recently starred in the short-lived NBC comedy Marry Me, will next be seen in the March 17 episode of Grey’s Anatomy playing an expectant mother.

Hopefully this does better than “Marry Me”, because Casey Wilson is an incredible comedy actress! Can’t wait to see more of this, hopefully ABC rights its wrong of cancelling “Happy Endings” and picks this up!

Would watch Casey Wilson read a book. She’s hilarious! Can’t wait to see this!

  3. CrumBum says:

Shes great, btw is she making anymore Hotwives on Hulu? That ish was hilarious!

  4. dan says:

She’s great, but it sounds like another concept where you go, “How long can this be sustained?” That being said, I’ll definitely watch her in anything, even “Phonebook – The Musical.”

    • BruinsFF says:

Sounds a little like it could have a Parks & Rec type appeal if done right and if it has a funny supporting cast as well. And apparently it’s an adaptation of a popular Austrian sitcom, so I could see it having potential if the writings good.

Really hope Casey Wilson’s new TV gig gets picked up as a series for ABC.

  6. Blerg says:

I really hope this succeeds. Casey Wilson deserves a long running and successful show.

Agree, it makes me sad that her and the rest of the Happy Endings cast can’t get a show of their to stay on the air. They’re all so talented but seem to be unlucky in all their shows always getting cancelled. I kinda wish they’d do shows on Netflix or Amazon or one of the streaming sites since shows never seem to get cancelled over there. Network tv is tough.

    Break a leg, Penny!

And if you are Penny, you’ll most likely break two and half a collar bone.

  8. Annie says:

I adored Marry Me – made me go back and watch Happy Endings actually. Big fan of hers so I’ll definitely check this out

  9. Mpko says:

Braunschlag wasn’t a sitcom, more of a quite bizarre 8-part-miniseries

Happy she got cast in a new show pilot! She’s great and a funny actress.

    Year of Penny!
