Brie Larson Oscars 2016

Oscars 2016: Brie Larson Wins for Room

Five of Hollywood’s most formidable females clashed Sunday over the Oscar for Best Actress, but there was only *ahem* room for one.

Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) and Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) were all up for the big honor, and the winner was… Larson for her portrayal of Joy “Ma” Newsome, a formerly captive woman experiencing the outside world with her son for the first time in five years.

Do you think Larson deserved the Oscar? Drop a comment with your thoughts on the results below.

I saw Room & Brooklyn…it was a tight race with the 2 leads, great performance by both ladies. Congratulations Brie, very well deserved!!

As much as I liked Brie Larson’s performance in Room, my heart was set on a win by Saoirse Ronan who I thought was phenomenal in Brooklyn. She was the movie and her performance stayed with me so much that I rewatched the movie a second time the day after.

I am so happy that she won. I’ve enjoyed her work since United State of Tara and was happy when she popped up on Community. I think her work in Room goes to show that she is quite versatile insomuch that she is quite capable of performing drama and is also quite capable at doing comedy. Few actors are able to pull off both convincingly.

Happy she won! Can’t wait to see which big movies she’ll be in next!
