Sunday Castle Sneak Peek: Can Rick Get Some Love in the Courtroom?

ABC’s Castle might not know it’s airing on Valentine’s Day — this Sunday’s special outing was only recently scheduled — but love nonetheless is in the air as Rick (Nathan Fillion) prepares to testify in a big case.

In “Witness for the Prosecution” (airing Sunday at 10/9, leading out of a special Bachelor broadcast), the long-running ABC drama makes a rare trip to the courtroom for a trial of one of Kate & Co.’s cases. In the exclusive sneak peek above, Kate (Stana Katic) warns Rick of what not to do as he testifies for the first time on the stand. When Rick learns that his “estranged” wife will be looking on, he does his best to arrange for a “secret signal” between them.

Sunday’s guest stars include One Life to Live alumni Kassie DePaiva, Tuc Watkins and Darlene Vogel, while Kristofer Polaha reprises his role as public defender/LokSat stooge Caleb Brown. Another new Season 8 episode airs Monday, in Castle’s usual time slot.

    But calab shows up instead

  2. Sam says:

Wow – look how long this Castle article has been up with so few comments. I think it speaks for the million less viewers this week (the smallest audience for the show to-date) that they (we) did not buy-in to the contrived split and are not willing to buy-in now on a season 5 redux. It is really a shame that TPW and AH have taken a successful, long-running show that so many people love and have turned it into a shell of its former self. Hopefully fans know that this season’s horrible story-lines are supposed to end in episode 16 and that it won’t be too late to get them back. ABC can’t be happy with what TPW and AH have done to a once successful show.

It had been an hour. And some of us have jobs.

      • Castlebuzz says:

Besides some of us are recovering from the last go-round. :) Seriously, what’s there to comment on in this clip except the nose thing and I for one am tired of pointing out how juvenile Rick has become whether it’s how he’s being written, directed or played. Would love to know what the script said …

Or REALLY heavy curtains on the basement widows so we sleep in sometimes…..

        But mostly the job thing.

  3. Caskett says:

Looking forward to some extra Castle this week! Thanks for the sneak peek Matt!

  4. Plecodave says:

We also have Vikram in this episode, how lucky we are!

  5. Brigid says:

I love this show! I just smile the entire time I watch these 2 in action. Looking forward to 2 nights of Castle!!!!!

  6. KLS says:

They think they are getting a stooge for a public defender, but are getting Caleb Brown, former hot shot corporate lawyer instead. We get to see how good he is as a “foil”. They look like a normal husband & wife team in the morning. Nothing else is going on.

  7. Carol C says:

Love the final nose rub ~ made me laugh.

  8. N says:

    Yay! Plus Tuc Watkins!

  9. JImN says:

It is very nice to see Fillion and Katic doing their rom-com thing on screen. The show needs much, much more of it.

  10. Robert says:

They are so desperate to get the word out that Caskett is back that the previews are nothing but the one good Caskett scene in the episode. BTW, Stana looks significantly younger. Has she had work done?

  11. acurat says:

Cute interaction in the preview – glad they are working together again and Stana Katic is back on the set nearly full time now.

    • Beckstle says:

…Nathan Fillion just had some time off and was chilling in Hawaii – and yes, there will be a Beckett-focused episode that fits his not being there. So, do we cue the whole, someone took time off and thus is ruining the show bit – or is Katic the only one not allowed to get a break? The truth is they’re both allowed to have time off and there are planned episodes that make it more conducive for them to do so.

      • Bob says:

Lol she was gone for longer this was like the third time Nathan went to Hawaii this season and still was in the episodes a lot

        • Beckstle says:

That’s because they worked with his schedule. You don’t have to shoot everything in order – which goes back to the fact that if they wanted Katic in a scene, they would have just scheduled to shoot it when she was there. They made the choice to write the stories the way they did.

  12. John Dunn says:

I don’t think your brilliant idea worked. I know it didn’t for me. Are you going to save Castle , or add some more stars and do a whole new show?

  13. Plecodave says:

Are we to believe that we will meet Svetlana and Livingstone in this episode? Is it for Espo and Ryan to see or are they involved in the murder case? Just another cringe worthy moment for us viewers.
