Super Bowl Babies Commercial

'Super Bowl Babies' Ad: Kids (and Seal) Sing About Being Conceived During the Game — Genius or Gross?

For one of its big Super Bowl 50 commercials, the NFL took a slightly different approach to the concept of scoring a touchdown.

The organization enlisted a choir of children to sing about how babies are made — or, more specifically, when they’re made. Set to the tune of Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose,” the kiddos sang about being conceived during Super Bowls past (in glorious falsetto, might I add). Naturally, Seal made a very special appearance alongside them.

I personally loved this one, but I realize I might not be in the majority. I mean, if you really break it down, it’s just a bunch of kids singing about their parents doing it.

All they did was tell the truth. And foretell the future of tonight for MANY.

  2. Joni says:

Genius. It’s one of the few ads I’ve liked tonight. Made me smile.

  3. Ellinaras78 says:

If you think it;s gross, get over yourselves.

    • JoMarch says:

This was an opinion poll; to call someone out because they have an opinion other than yours shows your lack of class which is why you thought little kids singing about when they were conceived is “genius”. and that you have such low self esteem you can’t bear someone not agreeing with you. Get help.

  4. funnydaysfromatoz says:

Gross. No kid wants to think about their parents getting busy let alone sing about it on television. Uber creepy.

  5. Mark says:

“We know you’ve heard that football is about concussions, but deep down, it’s really about boning. Um, I mean family.”

  6. Mr. Tran K says:

GENIUS 100%. Their rendition of Seal’s Kiss From a Rose was spot on.

  7. Allie says:

ok – lol. I laughed and my 13 year old was sitting there too. She rolled her eyes & gagged but survived the thought of parents making babies. It was funny. Perhaps not quite as funny as the Doritos ultrasound though

  8. gcw07 says:

It wasn’t genius or gross, but what was it selling? If it was selling something I sure don’t remember what it was.

  9. RJ says:

hmmmm…..by proclamation from the parents that these folks were conceived during or perhaps just after the game. Makes me wonder how true this all is. Did the losing team cities saw a corresponding decrease in births? For me what would be more heartening is to see a decrease in spousal abuse over the years. Are there any numbers for that?

  10. Stevie Rae says:

It creeped me out. Like Roger Goodell was just behind you, whispering in your ear that he knows what’s about to happen…and he likes it.

  11. peterwdawson says:

Probably around the line (kids singing about sex probably always will be), but I’d go genius.

  12. Sheila says:

Gross. And to make it worse, I had to explain the premise to my father.

  13. JB_Smooove says:

i felt this ad was cute. the first ad though with the nfl where they just mention conception goes up…now that was creepy as a mofo.

  14. Pat says:

I watched the whole 3 minute ad and I really liked it. Usually you hear about the spike of deliveries nine months after a blizzard but never realized the Super Bowl had the same affect. So this was genius…

  15. Jake says:

Tacky, and who’d willing appear in the commercial? Anything for their five minutes of fame, I guess.

    • Amelia says:

Or they’re just actors that wanted (or their parent’s wanted) the money? I highly doubt they were actual superbowl babies. Just kids the right age to have technically been ones.

    • JoMarch says:

Thank you for using the word “Tacky”. I voted for gross but tacky is more what I was thinking. Gross was a bit harsh.

  16. KC says:

So stupid. Can’t anyone think of anything original and GOOD anymore? Wow.

  17. Ella Jasper says:

Loved it, thought it was one of the best, if not the best.

  18. Diz says:

    Neither. It was just stupid.

  19. Laurie says:

My son called after the commercial to let me know he was a Super Bowl baby. Go Steelers!
