Janelle Monáe Dances Through Time in Pepsi's Pre-Halftime Super Bowl Spot

Step aside, Britney Spears* — Pepsi has found a new time-traveling Super Bowl songstress.

The soft-drink giant on Thursday released its ad for Sunday’s big game, which finds Janelle Monáe dancing her way through the decades; The Contours’ “Do You Love Me” (1962) and Madonna’s “Express Yourself” (1989) contribute to the soundtrack.

Pepsi’s ad will air before its sponsored halftime show, which will feature performances by Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.

*I’m so sorry, Britney, I never should have told you to step aside. Please don’t hate me. (Also, readers, if you have no idea what that comment was referencing, do yourselves a favor and watch this video.)

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

I dunno….it’s another Pepsi commercial with a name celebrity.

  2. Brooke says:

Janelle Monae is more exciting than Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars all put together. Can she do the half-time show instead?

  3. KC says:

Who is that chick? What a boring commercial!

  4. Who is the girl with the weird hair? Hate this commercial.
