American Idol Sneak Peek: Can Emily Brooke Conquer Her Emotions?

“What hurts the most, is bein’ so close,” sings American Idol hopeful Emily Brooke in her final Hollywood Week solo — and she should know.

The Florida teenager got cut prior to Season 14’s Top 24 announcement, and in the following exclusive clip from tonight’s episode (8/7c on Fox), we see her grapple with the knowledge that even the slightest mistake could lead to the same sad fate in the reality juggernaut’s farewell season.

Making matters worse, Emily admits she’s been struggling to find her full voice in the hours leading up to her pivotal performance.

The look on Keith’s face when she hits that bum note toward the end…FORESHADOWING! There are also high notes at the end of that song that she doesn’t take on, and I wonder if that might influence their decision.

  2. Shaun says:

Girl needs to recognize her weak points and not blast them at the judges.

  3. ColetteLushFan says:

Emily is talented and has a pretty voice but there are others in the competition this year that are stronger.. It seems Emily is trying very hard and have to love that about her though.. It’s obvious Idol is trying to influence the vote more than ever this year..

  4. Lizzie says:

She seems like a lovely girl with a sweet voice, and the makings of being an excellent volleyball player. I like her a lot, as a person, from what is shown of her. But she’s not the American Idol.

  5. Sorry, can’t listen to that song since constipated Gokey ruined it for me in Season 8.

  6. Bea says:

I think one of the most lame thing that Idol has done is to have 12 boys and 12 girls especially this year when there are so many girls that have such talent. WHY, WHY, WHY do they have to have 12 boys and 12 girls. I think they could have kept more girls then boys this year because the girls outweighed they boys in talent. I have complained about this every year and I guess this year is no different. I just thought Idol would get their heads out of their butts and realize that they don’t need to have an even number of boys an girls. So stupid of AI
