X-Files Ratings

Ratings: X-Files Slips, Still Tops Night

What was unarguably the best X-Files revival episode thus far drew 8.4 million total viewers and a 2.6 demo rating on Monday, slipping 13 and 19 percent week-to-week yet still leading the night in both measures.

Leading out of that, Lucifer (6 mil/1.9) was down 17 and 21 percent from its premiere.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

CBS | Supergirl‘s battle with Bizarro (6.7 mil/1.5) slipped 15 and 16 percent to hit and match series lows.

THE CW | Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (1.04 mil/0.4) ticked up while Jane the Virgin (1 mil/0.4) was flat.

NBC | Superstore (4.9 mil/1.4) and Telenovela (3.1 mil/0.8) each dipped a tenth, while Biggest Loser (3.2 mil/1.0) shed two tenths.

ABC | The Bachelor (7.4 mil/2.2) dropped a few eyeballs plus a tenth in the demo; the after-show (4 mil/1.0) was flat.

  1. ABG says:

Still great ratings, but hopefully it can stay at those levels.

  2. opus says:

Great X-Files episode. Was hoping the ratings would stay as high as last week but it seems everyone dropped. Glad X-F still topped the night in the demo.

  3. Sherry Riley says:

Blame Nexstar Broadcasting…They pulled their signal from Cox Cable over a dispute and we can’t watch our shows on NBC or Fox..so frustrated! I wanted to watch X-Files!

  4. AC says:

So annoyed that SG got a series low last night. Was it because of the late 2 mins start from SB commercials or Iowa? Really hope it can come back up next week.

    • Phun says:

Yeah! That big drop doesn’t make sense after doing 1.8’s and even a 1.9. I’m thinking more and more that it was the 2 minute late start. :(

    • drhenning says:

Ratings are so bogus when viewers of these types of shows probably have DVR’s these days… I was able to watch both fairly easily .. great episodes

  5. wrstlgirl says:

Oh man, I loved the Lucifer pilot. I was hoping it would do better, :-(

  6. Phun says:

Ouch for Supergirl! I wonder because of the 2 minute late start, people thought it wasn’t going to air. Even I was in panic mode for a moment.

  7. Kay says:

That was a great X-Files!! So funny…..Hope the ratings stay up!

  8. Zoe says:

“Unarguably” the best episode? I don’t know, I liked Episode 3, but honestly I preferred Episode 2.

  9. b says:

The time slot sucks. Sunday at 10pm was better. A lot of the people who grew up loving X-Files have young kids that don’t go to bed until after 8pm. It ain’t kid material.

    • Gospino says:

The show never had a Sunday at 10 slot. Fox doesn’t even program that hour except on rare occasions, such as after sports. Anyway, someone will always have an excuse no matter when a show airs. If it wasn’t on too early, it was on too late, or on a Friday, or against a really popular show, or after a poor lead-in, or opposite a big movie opening, or preempted for X reason, or not promoted enough, or promoted in the wrong manner, or… blah, blah, blah. Excuses, excuses. Every single show on the air could have at least one excuse made for it, so they’re all in about the same boat and it evens out. If people really want to watch, they will. If they aren’t that committed, they won’t.

  10. Mr. Tran K says:

Supergirl’s numbers may have its kryptonite but the series continues to evolve with great character story lines. Bummed that in the beginning, CBS shown a minute long Super Bowl preview with James Brown (sports broadcaster) and it ended with the results of the Iowa Caucuses.

    • Phun says:

Yeah! I’ve been reading a lot of forums and people were expecting the coverage for the caucuses in the beginning but when they aired that superbowl promo after that, it confused a lot of people. CBS should have aired that promo somewhere in the middle of the episode.

  11. Boiler says:

I don’t watch X-Files but if one of the “hilites” was Duchovny in a speedo something is wrong

  12. kmw says:

Not surprised about drops. The X-Files still did really well and I expect it to stay there or rise at finale time.
