Mike Minor dead Petticoat Junction

Petticoat Junction Star Mike Minor Dies

Mike Minor, best known for playing Petticoat Junction‘s Steve Elliott, has died, Programming Insider reports. He was 75.

UPDATE: Though initial reports said Minor died on Jan. 25 of cancer, his sister-in-law Marlene Durr Fedderson posted on Facebook that he died suddenly on Jan. 28.

Minor first appeared on the CBS comedy in 1964 as a minor character named Dan Plout, who was around for one episode. In 1966, he debuted as Steve, a crop duster originally intended to be Billie Jo’s love interest. His storyline later changed to pair him romantically with Linda Kaye Henning’s Betty Jo; he and Henning later were married in real life.

His other TV credits include My Three Sons, The Beverly Hillbillies, All My Children and L.A. Law.

When I was young, (I’m now 60) all my friends were obsessing about David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, and Donny Osmond. My first crush was on Mike Minor from Petticoat Junction. And, OH, that voice!!! I am so sorry to hear that he has passed. I just found out the other day. I must have missed it in the papers. Sincere sympathy to the family.
