Stephen Amell Legends of Tomorrow

Arrow's Stephen Amell to Play Older, One-Armed Oliver on DC's Legends

The Green Arrow is coming to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — but he won’t look like the costumed hero CW viewers have grown to know.

Arrow leading man Stephen Amell will guest-star in Episode 6 of the spinoff series as Oliver Queen circa 2046, TVLine has confirmed.

In a nod to the character’s appearance in the Dark Knight Returns comics, future Oliver “is missing his left arm and will be sporting a goatee,” Legends executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement.

The installment will also introduce “our version of Connor Hawke” — son to Oliver and the second Green Arrow in the comics — “to our universe,” Guggenheim added.

“Every once and a while, we do an episode where the 10-year-old me has to pinch himself,” the EP said. “We think this episode features some of the coolest things we’ve ever done.”

Amell also shared the news via Facebook.

This sounds completely awesome and epic. Except the losing the arm bit. It seems losing a hand/arm is all the rage. Poor Oliver. I wonder if that means they will at some point show how he loses the arm.

    • Erik says:

Why? The whole point of legends is they are stopping the future from happening. So normal Ollie might never lose the arm.

      • Ben says:

I suppose that could well be. I hadn’t considered that possibility.

      • h5n1 says:

i’m pretty sure the show is about them trying and failing to stop the fufture from happening… otherwise it would just end…

      • tvjunkie says:

No the point of Legends is to stop Savage from taking over the world in the future and he did that 150 years from today, long after Oliver would be dead. Who knows at what point in time they alter the timeline so that Savage won’t take over the world.

    • Azerty says:

If I remember correcty in the comics it’s Superman who cuts off Oliver’s arm. If they want to show that as present day in Arrow, I am all in for it!

  2. Oh I can’t wait to see how Sarah deals with this

  3. Oh, I dunno. Frank Miller’s Batman (and Oliver by extension) kind of existed in his/their own little weird universe. Shooting an arrow with your teeth is funny once, but it’s pretty stupid.

    • SonOfCoul says:

That was 25 years ago…and over 50 yrs before this is going to be set.

I’m sure they will have lnog since come up with a more creative way for old man oliver queen to fire arrows

Love this! Glad Stephen will be back on the show again as an older Oliver in the future! Can’t wait to see the episode next month!
