Showtime Episodes Cancelled

Showtime's Episodes: 'Real Possibility' That Season 5 Will Be the Last

Episodes‘ final episodes may be upon us.

Responding to a recent tweet by series star Matt LeBlanc, Showtime programming chief Gary Levine said Tuesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, “That’s a real possibility [that Season 5 will be the last].”

“On this series, we are in the very talented hands of Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane, and they are hard at work on the fifth season,” Levin added. “We will wait to see if white smoke or black smoke comes out of the chimney at the end of that.”

Explaining the comedy’s delayed Season 5 arrival, Levin hailed it as “one of the most well-crafted comedies on television. Because it’s so painstakingly crafted … it takes a rather long time between seasons, and we are waiting patiently for that.”

Earlier during Showtime’s TCA session, CEO David Nevins announced that Shameless had been renewed for Season 7 and revealed premiere date for Penny Dreadful Season 3.

They Need that Long for just 8 Episodes per season? How do others manage 22 or more episodes per season????

This is one of the best comedies on TV. I don’t know why tv critics didn’t give it more love. The writing and the acting is brilliant.

  9. Carol S. says:

Episodes is hysterical, smart, different and completely right on in pointing out our collective craziness. How can you remotely consider not continuing it?! It also has one of the best openings of any TV show and incredible actors who crack us up. What more can you ask for?

Best comedy since Fraser. Just an exceptional show in every way – brilliant writing and unbelievably talented cast.
Matt Leblanc in particular was a delightful surprise, proving that typecasting is so shortsighted. So happy for Season 5. So sad to hear it may be the last.
The fight scene between Matt and Sean will go down as one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on TV… How you smelling?
