Cheers' Kirstie Alley, George Wendt and John Ratzenberger Reunite in New Ad

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name — and your weight-loss plan.

In Jenny Craig’s latest commercial, sometime spokesperson Kirstie Alley returns to Cheers not as Rebecca Howe — the character she played for six seasons on the NBC comedy — but as an enthusiastic dieter who tells Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) and Norm Peterson (George Wendt) all about the company’s personal consultants and “yummy” food options.

Do you raise a glass to this mini-reunion (regardless of the reason behind it)? Watch the advertisement above, then discuss it in the comments.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

How do we know she’s not playing Rebecca? From the commercial she obviously knows the guys and they know here, and she goes behind the bar to pour them beers. Looks like Rebecca to me.

Always good to see Cheers though. They don’t make them like that much anymore.

    • Alley is credited as “Kirstie” on Jenny Craig’s website, while Wendt and Ratzenberger are credited by their character names. It’s all very meta, of course, so the waters are muddied.

I definitely think she’s playing Rebecca in the commercial. I think it was a very cute idea, but it could’ve been a lot funnier.

Damn, I really miss that show. Still my all-time favorite comedy, and it’s still just as great in reruns.

I’m impressed that they were able to get the set from Paramount. I’m sure that didn’t come cheap for JC.
