Victoria Justice Rocky Horror

Victoria Justice, Reeve Carney and 2 Others Join Fox's Rocky Horror Remake

Dammit… Victoria Justice?

Yes, the former Eye Candy star will assume the role of Janet Weiss in Fox’s upcoming (non-live) production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was announced Monday. She’ll be accompanied by Broadway star Ryan McCartan, who will play Janet’s lover Brad.

For those unfamiliar with Rocky Horror, it tells the story of two young lovebirds who find themselves the unexpected guests of a mad scientist and self-proclaimed “sweet transvestite” named Dr. Frank-N-Further, played in this production by Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black).

Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) has also been cast as Riff Raff, a loyal servant to Dr. Frank-N-Furter, while model Staz Nair will play Rocky, the doctor’s perfect male creation.

The 1975 film version starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as Janet and Brad, with Tim Curry slipping into Frank-N-Further’s iconic heels. Fox’s take — executive-produced by Lou Adler, Gail Berman and Kenny Ortega — is slated for a fall premiere.

  1. Eric says:

Rocky Horror is one of my favorite musicals of all-time. Please Fox, I beg you, don’t ruin its legacy. You already came close on Glee.

  2. Elle says:

    No. Just no.

  3. Never seen it before, & it doesn’t appear that will change with this airing.

  4. Gage says:

Ugh, another unnecessary remake of an iconic piece of pop culture.

  5. Dude says:

Victoria Justice? You must be joking Fox.

  6. Pete says:

I love the original Rocky Horror, watch it every year. People don’t complain when they do a new stage version with a new cast. So they are doing it on film so we all can see not just those that can make it to Broadway – doesn’t take anything away from the original. Granted I am not familiar with Victoria Justice and she seems to be the one people are complaining about, but the guys have music theater cred and Staz should make a sexy Rocky – lighten up, it could be fun.

    • Simon says:

You make good points however the biggest problem I have with this is that it’s the on network television. Therefore much of the sexuality will be highly censored. Which really is what the original is all about. I mean when Glee did a version of it, also on Fox, they had to omit the word Transexual !

  7. AJ says:

Stop trying to make Victoria Justice happen. She’s been a flop post Nickelodeon.

  8. Rockell says:

    No thank you.

  9. Me says:

Some things just don’t need to be remade, this is one of them.

  10. Tin says:

    No more remakes! Agh!

  11. Terry says:

NO NO NO NO this is just wrong

  12. Jennifer says:

No. Just …. just no. The original is iconic. Why all the remakes? WE NEED NEW IDEAS!!!! Not rehashing of old, trying to relive glory days!

  13. Jack says:

Cue the whining, from people who think the original is actually good…

    • Jennifer says:

That’s the thing. It really wasn’t ***good***. It was campy and dumb and really not great. But – for what it’s worth – it’s a cult classic. and it shouldn’t be touched. I go back to my mantra – THERE IS NO NEW TALENT OR IDEAS IN HOLLYWOOD (or Broadway for that matter)

      • Gern Blanston says:

Its not like the “original” was even original though. It was a movie adaptation of a stage play. And, as mentioned above, the play has been redone a million different times with different casts without a peep. This is just people complaining because that’s all the internet seems to be good for, false outrage.

  14. Imagecrafters says:

BBC America already did an awesome celebration of RH for the 40th Anniversary. Fox cannot improve on the original or this one.

  15. Cali says:

I’m not hating on Victoria Justice, but did the fox execs give any thought into the casting? Janet and Brad are meant to homely, shy, conservative couple thatimes are corrupted and sorry Victoria I just can’t see you as that. Not to mention how they’re going to have to butcher the story in order put it on network television. All I’m asking is for them to hire a casting director who’s actually seen the film.
