Arrow Winter Promo: Felicity Survives — But With What Consequences?

Felicity might live to see another day on Arrow, but she’s hardly out of the woods.

Oliver gets some troubling news about his fiancée’s condition in the newest teaser for the CW series’ return on Jan. 20.

While the hero takes out his anger on Damien Darhk following the fall finale shootout that left Ms. Smoak with a bloody bullet wound, his other half is “out of surgery,” Thea informs her brother. “They didn’t say what was wrong.”

Whatever it is, it must be bad judging from the worried look on Donna’s face.

Felicity really is going to end up as Oracle in a wheelchair isn’t she

  2. Pretty much. And i bet she will have anger issues, and will push Olliver away from him. She will stay in the chair until the end of Season 5, time that she will regain the use of her legs…. the end game will be Olicity being together again….

    • amb1973 says:

CW won’t let them keep the actress in a chair that long. End of this season at the longest, probably some big reveal at the Palmer Tech board meeting Curtis is prepping for, which will be about a week after the big death (aka Quentin biting it).
She’ll dump Oliver when she finds out he’s been lying.

    • ginger cherry says:

If Felicity becomes barren as a result of this “accident”, it would certainly amp up the relationship drama and throw in some major obstacles in her relationship with Oliver. Especially when she finds out he already fathered a child with another woman.

My drama llama kinda wants to see Felicity in a wheelchair for the rest of the season, with lots of physical therapy, and then a full recovery by season 5 episode 8 (100th episode) where she will miraculously walk down the aisle to marry Oliver. :))))

    • Liz says:

I don’t think she’ll push him away, although she might once she learns he has a son he never told her about. But I think it’s time for Oliver to be Felicity’s ‘light’ now. She’s the one who needs support and guidance. There’s potential in this to make these two even stronger than they are and they’re already pretty damn solid together.

  3. lonestarjrs says:

Felicity was pregnant …dun dun duuuuuuuun

    • Ashley says:

Or the bullet irreparably damaged her reproductive organs and will never be able to have children, putting more strain on their relationship–especially when the truth about Oliver’s son comes out. Those were my thoughts.

      • Cherry Mararac says:

Wow! I really thought that I was the only thinking this. Ever since after episode 9 I had this horrible theory that her wounds would mean she wouldn’t be able to have children. I really hope we’re wrong. I just hope that Felicity is in a coma and Oliver is the one that wakes her up. And also in the promo Donna could just be happy crying.

  4. I am thinking paralysis, but more with her hands instead of her being in a wheelchair. The tech genius not being able to use her hands will be a big emotional arc for Felicity.

  5. H says:

I bet she won’t be able to have kids which feeds into the Ollie son arc

  6. John NYC says:

Her insurance didn’t cover gunshots so they’re going to gets stuck with a humungous bill.

Hey Oliver I bet that surcharge for the armored limo package and some security men is looking pretty good right about now eh?

  7. Sara says:

    What if Felicitys pregnant?

  8. amb1973 says:

Arrow writers always takes the most obvious route, unless they’re taking the dumbest. Their favorite is when their chosen story is both the most obvious and the dumbest. So yeah, she’s paralyzed, at least for a few episodes, bc they want to do an Oracle storyline and they enjoy making Felicity miserable. More misery porn, just like S3.

    • Zach says:

Glad to see you enjoy the show.

      • amb1973 says:

Used to, before the idiocy reared its ugly head. And it got maudlin and melodramatic, and the stunts became boring and repetitive.
Thea’s cool this season, at least.

        • Lizzie says:

If you don’t enjoy it, why do you comment all the time? All you ever do is complain.

          • James R. says:

By that logic why are you replying to his/her comments? If they bother you that much then why read them?

          • Lizzie says:

James, I’m just wondering why anyone would continue to watch and moan about a show they clearly don’t enjoy. Call it morbid curiosity. Is that ok with you?

        • Im with u this show was good-great for its 1st 2 seasons nows its an embarrassment and somehow the acting is even worse than it ever was

          • Rob Watkins says:

That’s not remotely true. This season has been excellent and Amell’s performance is better than it’s ever been. He’s upped his game this season. If it the show is an embarrassment, why are you watching and commenting every week?

          • tigersmurfette says:

to the people who keep asking why people complain and still watch, because they can. thats why. this isnt a praise only board, this is a comment section where everyone can post their opinions. so what if they differ from yours, theyre still valid. let them and quit chastising them for it. if you dont agree, fine. others do and maybe they like to hear from like minded people instead of blind sheep who can only sing the praises of something and not think critically about the show they may have used to love.

          • amb1973 says:

People really can be such babies. God forbid anyone criticize something they like.

I quit watching during the season of misery porn and have now quit again since Oliver’s gone back to being a lying sack of poo. Will watch the episode in which Felicity dumps him, though. Cry, you lying liar, cry!

    • John NYC says:

More than sixty percent of all personal bankruptcies are caused by medical bills.

      The obvious route for sure.

    • Rob Watkins says:

It’s called drama, consequences, and stakes. Misery porn? Really?

      • amb1973 says:

S3 was utterly, totally, completely, and unreservedly stupid. Everything from Oliver intentionally putting Malcolm under his protection from VERY deserved consequences from both the LOA AND civil authorities to Oliver leaving ONE WORKING PARACHUTE right there for RAG to use when his whole plan was to take out RAG and the virus by downing the plane. When the plot is that unbelievably stupid, it’s not drama, consequences, or stakes, it’s idiotic misery porn. “Let’s have a totally stupid plot that requires our characters to be dumb as non-working doorknobs, bc otherwise they could fix everything with a ten-second conversation and three working brain cells!” That is misery porn.

    • To be fair watching Felicity makes me miserable

    • Julian says:

The dumbest route they took was let Olicity happened. I’m not a Felicity hater but that relationship has ruined the character.

  9. as long as they stay away from the stupid amnesia route i’m good

  10. Mark says:

With Felicity out of Action and the company in trouble, Dharke uses this to take the company so killing two birds with one stone Olivers funding and Felicity’s love of her new job. And any tech advantages the company would have given them…

  11. She won’t remember Oliver? It hasn’t been 6mos yet, so the grave CAN’T be her!!

  12. Anna says:

The grave is Arrow and Felicity baby. Felicity will be in a coma.

  13. John NYC says:

Yikes, this is one dark fandom.

  14. Lizzie says:

That promo without Felicity looks so dull, imagine the show without her! Impossible! I’m all for Oliver getting revenge though but I’m surprised he wasn’t at the hospital when she’s in surgery. I guess he’s traumatised and devastated and filled with rage about her being hurt.

I know Felicity will probably end up in a wheelchair but I’m disappointed they’re taking such a cliche route, teasing the Oracle thing. Felicity is a great character who deserves her own story, not someone else’s. I hope whatever it is isn’t permanent. I’m already dreading this arc, I don’t want to see it last.

  15. Feilcia Fouda says:

Felicity will pull out of all of this and marry Oliver, I really like her and happy she survived!!!

  16. I bet that they will go the Protective Custody/Hiding and fake Felicity’s death to throw Darhk off the trail!

  17. Felicity survives …..what a shocker!

  18. Gail says:

With DC’s Legends of Tomorrow time travel you have to figure Ray Palmer will want to change whatever happens to Felicity. You also had Barry Allen mention that when he time travels there are constituencies. Whatever happens to Felicity will be the constituencies of Barry’s time travel when they saved Hawkman and Hawkwoman.

  19. Carolyn fry says:

If felicity is killed off I am done with arrow. He has had enough women . Get on with being a super hero. She is his soul.

    • Liz says:

I definitely think they should get married and be done with it. Have Oliver in a committed and stable relationship and focus on other things. I understand why they’re doing it this season because they only just got together and this is TV of course. But there really doesn’t need to be relationship drama on this show at all. There’s so much more to Arrow than romance. But Oliver and Felicity are great together and they should just keep them together and be done with it.

  20. Cherry Mararac says:

The CW justnkeeps trying to trick the fans with these promos. My first theory is Donna is crying in the promo because Felicity survived and she’s just crying with happiness. My second theory is that she survived surgery but is in a coma. Oliver will probably be the one to get her to wake up.

  21. Amber Nieves says:

What if Felicity can’t have children after the surgery done?

  22. Zee says:

Goody, can we kill her off now? She’s become boring since olicity!!

  23. Zee says:

    And laurel too!!!

  24. Joey Padron says:

Good preview for new episodes. Not good what happens to Felicity. Intense stuff coming up in new episodes.

  25. Lola says:

    Wow…spoiler in the title. Dang.

  26. Phil says:

The most obvious choice is that she’s paralyzed, which would be dumb and pointless. Arrow already has too many shades of Batman in it, having Oracle is unnecessary. The least bad, possible option I can think of is that she can no longer have children. That would add to the whole Oliver’s son plot, because secrets and lies are this show’s bread and butter. Someone else mentioned she could have been pregnant and she lost the baby, and that baby would be the one on the grave in the flashforward. I think that would be a copout, because they the character getting killed would turn out to be someone who didn’t even exist properly. Maybe she lost a baby and can no longer bear children.

  27. Salihahrose says:

No Oracle, it’s gonna be she can’t have kids to pull the whole hidden kid storyline to the front.

  28. Imzadi says:

Hearing about the “bad news”, the first thing that crossed my mind was also, that she suffered damage, making it impossible for her to get pregnant.

But reading here that the one lying in that grave might be here unborn child because she was already pregnant is also a good guess.

    • amb1973 says:

People don’t generally have funerals and full-sized graves/coffins for first-term fetuses.

She’s in a wheelchair. These people are comic book fanboys and probably think they’re incredibly clever to parallel Oracle. Plus The Calculator’s daughter Wendy (Proxy) was paralyzed, and The Calculator is obviously going to turn out to be her father.

      • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

amb1973, rest assured that you are officially on record as predicting that Felicity will wind up in a wheelchair — and that any such storytelling decision, in your opinion, is not as clever as the writers may think.

If it comes true and any member of this site contests that you predicted it (lots), ping me and I can link them.

    • kelz says:

The comments that it is the unborn baby in the grave is the dumbest comment I have read. An unborn baby would not be buried to begin with, also wouldn’t be buried in an adult sized hole. Also if she was pregnant and lost the baby, she wasn’t far enough, it wouldn’t even have a baby form yet. If cw did that, that would officially be the dumbest and most unrealistic explanation.

  29. Jared says:

The relationship between Felicity and Oliver has almost been too perfect this season. I have a feeling the second half of the season will really amp up the storylines for both characters. I’d be shocked if Felicity is the one in the grave but then again Arrow loves to bring back “dead” characters.

    • Keepgoing says:

I don’t think it’s perfect. I think it’s mature. Felicity lied to Oliver about working with the team, Oliver lied to Felicity about his son and proposed to her with the lie in between (which BTW I think is worse). They’ve had real issues (see 4×06). Overall, I think they’ve written a pretty mature relationship but they’re going to sacrifice it just for the sake of drama. Unnecessary and unwanted drama. They were handling it so well with not too much romance but just enough. Also, I would hate if she became Oracle. Really?

  30. I think that the grave is a decoy. She recovers but they send her into hiding.

  31. Daster says:

it’s so obvious from the strong hinting that it’s definitely NOT Felicity’s grave. these scenes might not even be from the same episode. I wouldn’t mind too much if she ends up in a wheelchair, I think that could make for an interesting character development. probably some minor character will die, like Oliver’s son. no real impact on the show, but perfect motivation for a vengeful Oliver. still hoping for Laurel though, that actress and character is bad and pointless.

  32. Ellie says:

It is who it is. We will just have to wait and see. If you don’t like who it is and don’t like watching it. Don’t. Simple.
They have done the storyline and we can not change it.
The comments people are making about losing a baby as a good thing are awful. It may just be in the program, but it happens in real life, where the rest is make believe. The comments are about the show but don’t be insulting the loss of a child, even if he/she has not been born yet. Some people don’t show signs of pregnancy for months and months.
Sorry for the long winded post, but those comments really annoyed me.

  33. wooster182 says:

    Could she have been pregnant?

  34. MattySi says:

I was thinking they find out she was pregnant she lost the baby but then that wouldn’t explain the adult size grave.

I really think they are just messing with us with the grave. I mean it could be anyone because didn’t someone already determine that the grave seen is too far in the future to be part of the current timeline? Also, was Robert Queens (is that his name) body ever found? Maybe they find it and put him to rest.

OR (things are just popping into my head now) what if it’s Roy’s body? we know he is coming back for at least 1 episode. Maybe he actually dies in the end.

  35. aph1976 says:

I think Felicity will be paralyzed for a bit and that could change her relationship with Oliver. However i also wonder if Oliver becomes overprotective of Felicity now and in trying to protect her someone else dies as a result.

  36. Deborah says:

Felicity will not become Oracle as warner bros are using in a up and coming project.

  37. Chris says:

Someone important has to be in that grave for Barry to be there and for Oliver to actually want to kill Damian but I’m pretty sure it isn’t felicity….

  38. Georgie says:

I was in total shock when Felicity got shot. I did not see it happening at all.

I am still unsure what will happen when S4 returns, but I hope Felicity will be okay.

I love her and Oliver’s relationship, apart from the fact he lied to her about having a child – that’s not a good sign to a healthy relationship. And the fact that she practically had to beg him to propose to her – that really annoyed me.

  39. SJG says:

Why don’t they just use the nano tech to fix her like they did previously for atom?? Or am I being too simple?

  40. Carol says:

Maybe he was visiting his Mom’s grave.

  41. Ken Kosh III says:

I think it’ll be Thea or Diggle, I think Malcom will have something to do with it if it’s Thea, and I think that it’s possible that it’s Diggle because that could attract Barry to the grave site. It would also attract Barry if it were Thea.
