Amell Wins WWE Slammy

Arrow's Stephen Amell Wins Slammy Award for WWE SummerSlam Debut

Stephen Amell now has two big wins under his belt as the result of making his WWE debut this past summer.

The Arrow star received a Slammy Award from the WWE on Monday night, in the “Celebrity Moment of the Year” category, for his much-hyped face-off against nemesis Stardust.

The two-on-two throwdown — which paired Amell with Neville against Stardust and King Barrett — aired in late August as part of this year’s SummerSlam event. During the match, Amell got in a few early licks and then later leaped off the top turnbuckle onto Stardust, as the good guys emerged victorious.

Amell’s tagteam partner Neville also grabbed a Golden Grappler on Monday, as “Breakout Star of the Year.”

Congrats Stephen Amell. He definitely deserves a Slammy. Also, Seth Rollins won Superstar of the Year. So Roman Reigns won it last year and this year it’s Seth freakin’ Rollins and I hope that next year it’s going to be Dean Ambrose. #BelieveInTheShield

The last time I watched WWE was probably when I was 10 so reading this news article is kind of weird for me haha. I think they stopped showing Raw and Smackdown here in MNL. I dont recognize the names anymore. Whatever happened to Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Kane. the Undertaker haha. Of course we all know where The Rock, Batista and John Cena all ended up

Not a shock, Amell did way more than is expected of most celebrities when it comes to a match. I mean the two usual things you see are the celebrity barely getting touched and them hitting maybe 2 moves before getting a gratuitous pin. In this case neither was true as he not only took a beating but pulled off a few impressive attacks of his own. I mean, the Slammys of course exist as a storytelling device rather than proper awards, but in this case it really was a no-brainer.

Congrats Stephen! Happy he won the award! Like he already add the win to his Twitter bio already.

Congrats Stephen, I’m so happy for you. I’ll be seeing you in New Jersey next month at the Heroes and Villains convention. I’m so excited.
