Willard Scott to Retire from Today

After 65 years with NBC, broadcast veteran Willard Scott is retiring, Today announced Friday.

The former weatherman has had a presence on the morning program since his semi-retirement in 1996, when he was succeeded by Al Roker.

Before his 35 years with Today, Scott got his start as an NBC page.

“He is literally my second dad,” Roker said in a tweet from the show’s account. “I love that man.”

Scott will be honored during his last appearance on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
