Chelsea Handler's Chelsea Does Gets Premiere Date — Watch Trailer

“I don’t mean to be judgmental… but I am.”

Chelsea Handler was never one to mince words on her E! series, so why should she start now?

The comedienne’s Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, will be available Saturday, Jan. 23, the streaming video service announced Monday. A day earlier, Handler’s new show will make its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

The four-part project finds Handler “exploring topics of personal and universal fascination, from marriage to dugs, to racism and Silicon Valley,” per the official description.

The trailer bears that out, as Handler engages in activities like trying on flouncy wedding gowns (“Wow, that’s so stupid,” she says as a saleswoman adjusts her veil), smoking pot with Willie Nelson (“It’s like sex,” he says of varying marijuana quality, “Some’s better than others, but it’s all good”) and defending her decision to dress sidekick Chuy as Hitler (“It was Hanukkah”) to the Anti-Defamation League.

Is this all she’s doing for Netflix? I thought she was also going to have a talk show.

    • Dude says:

From what I read, the plans were for her to do a talk show in addition to specials about topics that interested her. They made it sound like they’d be sporadic specials but this makes it seem like it’s just a second series.

  2. nickspace says:

I’m surprised after such a lengthy break it’s only a 4-part series. Maybe Netflix wanted to test the waters before committing further. The bit with the robotic doll head seemed funny, I’ll give this a shot.

  3. Terri says:

This is the Chelsea I like. I might actually check this out since the trailer made me laugh.

  4. Josh Emerson says:

I have never found her funny. I just don’t get the appeal.

They haven’t announced any changes to their plans other than the normal delays in dates. They better get her show on soon as I need a reason to keep Subscribing and while these specials are OK, it’s her talk show that I liked
