Rambo TV Series Fox Sylvester Stallone

Rambo (and Son!) Series in Works at Fox, Sylvester Stallone Attached

After all these years, John Rambo is going out on patrol once more: Fox is developing a series based on the Rambo movie franchise, our sister site Deadline reports.

During Rambo‘s big screen heyday of the 1980s, Sylvester Stallone played the title character, a tortured Vietnam War POW who relies on his armed forces training when he runs afoul of sadistic law enforcement officials. In sequels, he works to rescue other POWs and to thwart dictatorships.

Stallone will executive-produce the Fox series, which will focus on the relationship between John and his adult son J.R., a former Navy Seal who does not appear in any of the four Rambo movies.

It is unclear whether Stallone will act in the TV drama. Regardless of who plays Rambo Sr., he will be a major character in the series.

    Here come the obligatory complains…

Personally, I’m excited. We need good action on tv. Everything is boring since 24 ended.

    • And therein lies the problem. First Blood was a top shelf drama, not an action movie. It was turned into an action franchise with two pretty bad sequels and one pretty good reboot. I wouldn’t mind if it was a show that had the credit, “Based on First Blood by David Morrell,” and had nothing to do with John Rambo. With all these bad cops popping up in the news, it would be topical for Not Rambo to play cat and mouse with a corrupt sherriff.

  3. It will air back to back with the Beverly Hills Cop TV series.

Well, Stallone may be ruining the goodwill he’s getting for “Creed,” with some critics stating he deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor

the first two films were excellent in my opinion three was okay but it wasn’t as well written as the first two and the forth was decent, so if they can make it more a drama with action like the first two films I’d be totally down with this.

Add this to the long list of TV shows FOX adapted from a movie.
