Ratings: Once, Good Wife Hit Lows Opposite World Series Championship

Facing off against an intense (and sadly final) World Series game, ABC’s Once Upon a Time this Sunday drew 4.8 million total viewers and a 1.5 demo rating, ticking down in both measures to series lows.

Blood & Oil (3.2 mil/0.8) similarly dipped, while Quantico (4 mil/1.2) plunged 25 percent in both measures against Game 5’s nailbiter later innings.

Fox’s aforementioned World Series Game 5 broadcast did 17 mil and a 5.0 from 8 to 10 pm; fuller numbers TK.

Over on CBS (and pending adjustment due to NFL delays), Madam Secretary (9.7 mil/1.1) dipped a tenth, while The Good Wife (7.6 mil/0.9) slipped 6 percent and two tenths to hit and tie series lows. CSI: Cyber (5.6 mil/0.8) inched up.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football averaged 20 mil and a 7.2, up slightly from last week’s fast nationals.

Will ABC cancels Quantico next year due to low ratings?(spring ratings is going to be ugly)

    • Ellinas1978 says:

Without NFL if they are smart about getting people to catch up they might actually be better. No Homeland either, and if they are smart they can start early and get strong numbers when the Walking Dead is on a break.

  2. Lisa says:

No show stood a chance between football and the World Series.

  3. Boiler says:

Between football and the World Series these are expected. Perhaps DVR will show the real interest. Not that it matters much but CBS continues to shoot itself in the foot with football delays of its own

  4. Coach Taylor says:

Its simple; nobody is watching TV live anymore….

  5. Donna says:

OUAT really didn’t do that poorly considering it went against both the World Series and Football. It’s low is only 1/10th of it’s lowest, so considering that it probably would have been the highest rated of the season so far if not for sports.

Cue Kevin Tran cancellation comments in 3… 2…

I didn’t even attempt to flip on TGW once I realized that CBS had the late game yesterday.

  8. Larc says:

Big sports events competition or not, TGW ratings/viewers will likely continue trending down. The storyline has become very stale, IMO.

Why would anyone be surprised about last nights ratings with both a football game and the World Series on. I would think that some of these shows will go up next week just like FOX will fall compared to where they have been with baseball. The only one on Sunday night that’s going to get cancelled is Blood and Oil

I absolutely LOVE!!!!!!! that you have a picture of the Royals (🎉💙⚾️👑) for this article, but couldn’t it at least be a picture from this year? In your defense, any picture of the Royals is a great thing! #Crowned

A regular season football game trounced a World Series clinching game.

And the World Series can probably attribute its ratings at least in part to a lead-in of the Cowboys-Seahawks.

I totally get why football won the night. The game was between two undefeated teams with ginormous fan bases, including outside of their market and for a lot of people, if their team isn’t playing baseball, regardless of the game’s significance, they won’t watch. That being said, the World Series this year was between two, mostly, evenly matched teams and it was stellar. Alas, my DVR is screaming for relief so now I’ll have to clean it off since my team is the champion of MLB. 🎉💙⚾️👑

Can’t wait to see the cable ratings.. TWD was a whole 90 minutes of not Glenn. I’m curious as to how many people tuned in.

    • Vi says:

I like Morgan but 90 minutes, especially after last weeks episode, based on just him was way too long. Hate how they’re dragging this out. We want to know what happened to Glenn. (Will be very upset if they actually killed him off) I don’t think so, but until we know for sure, I won’t breathe easy.

Actually TGW and OUAT are not the shows they used to be and people don’t mind missing them….sports are not….so stale and personally I think both shows are showing their age. I still watch them but not with the same focus. Tired of the Alicia storyline, particularly with Peter..so over this “fake” marriage. And I’m just not liking Emma as the dark one…..it’s kinda become hilarious….
