Ash vs Evil Dead Renewed

Ash vs. Evil Dead Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Season 1 Debut

That was bloody fast.

Three days before Ash vs. Evil Dead‘s Halloween launch, Starz has already renewed the comedic horror series for a 10-episode second season, TVLine has confirmed.

“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with Season 1.”

Based on Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell‘s film franchise, Ash vs. Evil Dead picks up 30 years after the events of 1981’s The Evil Dead; Ash (Campbell) is still coming to terms with what went down at the cabin, when he’s suddenly forced to go to war against an army of deadites.

Season 1 premieres this Saturday at 9/8c. Season 2 will bow in late 2016.

  1. I really don’t get why networks do this-what if the show is a flop?Itll be like Matador,Hindsight and the HBO show cancelled after airing a season & being Renewed for another. Why not wait and see the ratings first?

    • Tony Lang says:

To be fair, Matador is the only one of those shows renewed before even airing. The Brink was renewed mid-way through the season, Hindsight was renewed a week after the season finale (then canceled because the new boss wants to move away from scripted shows).

  2. Eric says:

This is a good sign! I personally can’t wait for this show.

  3. But will it continue the tradition established in the movies of rebooting the story from the start? lol

    • The Watcher says:

In a way…. maybe. They couldn’t get the rights to Army of Darkness so everything that was introduced there is kind’ve murky and off limits so as not to cause legal issues or force shared revenues with the AoD rights holders. Hence no Gauntlet Hand.

  4. Murica! says:

Great news!! Bruce Campbell is such a nice guy.

  5. Tony Lang says:

Can’t believe no one said it yet, so I will: Groovy….

  6. Dani says:

I want Xena instead. Xena on Starz?

    • Agent 86 says:

How about both? If Bruce Campbell can return to the role of Ash on a limited basis (albeit, with the renewal, now an extended basis), then surely Lucy Lawless can return to the role of Xena (along with Renee O’Connor as Gabrielle) for a TV mini-series which gives Xena and Gabrielle one last, great adventure while also setting up a basis for an ongoing TV series with a new, protégé “Warrior Princess”!

  7. Joshua says:

It’s Starz. I would be surprised if it wasn’t renewed before the premiere.
