Damage Control TV Series

ABC Eyeing Damage Control Comedy Series, Inspired By Marvel Comics

If your lingering thought after watching The Avengers was, “But who’s going to clean up that mess in New York City?,” ABC’s latest project is perfect for you.

The Alphabet Net has given a put pilot commitment to Damage Control, a live-action comedy series based on the Marvel comic books of the same name.

According to our sister site Deadline, the potential series follows the overworked, underpaid clean-up crew of the Marvel Universe, those who specialize in dealing with the unique aftermath of superhero conflicts. The Damage Control team is responsible for returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, or rescheduling wedding venues after they’ve been vaporized in an epic battle.

The half-hour, single-camera project is being developed by Ben Karlin (The Daily Show), who will also write and executive-produce with David Miner and Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb.

Is this going to be part of the MCU? I’d be down for some crossovers involving the crew finding the Chitauri scepter or Cap’s shield and trying to return it.

  2. Okay — but the inciting incident for every episode would have to be that something has been destroyed, mainly buildings and streets, etc. Given how people reacted to the destruction in Metropolis seen in Man of Steel, it’s gonna be interesting to see how they react to this, heh.

Souns very interesting, every episode have a potential. But ABC should make it a mini series so it can be safe to assume the show will be a good corner of the MCU. I don’t know if we ever will meet a clean team for the DC universe and his supes xD

This is MARVELous!!! I love this idea!

  4. lori says:

    That is hysterical.

  5. Joey Padron says:

Interesting idea for a show. Hope it works out well.

  6. Ram510 says:

My initial thought was “please, just, no” but perhaps it could be decent. I’m still not excited by the idea

  7. Zeph says:

At least it’s not a reboot!

  8. Ray says:

This is exactly what I thought Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D would be all about. Was I just imagining things or did the initial press release for that show not discuss a cleanup crew for the Avengers?

    • Concerned says:

You’re right! Same thing I thought too

    • grys03 says:

Same here. Though I can see this working as a ongoing sub-plot of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D & the movies – now that would work for me. Unfortunately as a stand-alone concept I think it may be very limited.

  9. DMK says:

OK, I could be on board for this. The comics are HILARIOUS. Man, do I miss Dwayne McDuffie. “One of my men just had an origin.” – Lenny, Damage Control #1

  10. Erica says:

    That sounds hilarious.

  11. Sheldon W. says:

The comic didn’t last all that long so I expect about the same if the pilot actually goes to series. (It’s actually too bad, too – the comic was great fun!)

  12. TVFan says:

I believe that DC has a very similar show in development at NBC. That show is also a comedy that centers around an insurance company having to pay out claims due to superhero damages.

It sounds like fun to watch.
