Hunted on CBS

Fugitive-esque Manhunt Reality Series Hunted Greenlit at CBS

Imagine if the contestants on The Amazing Race were running away from Phil Keoghan and you basically have the premise of Hunted, a new reality series coming to CBS.

Based on the UK format of the same name, Hunted challenges participants to go on the run as some of the world’s most highly skilled investigators and trackers pursue them in a nation-wide manhunt.

Here’s the official logline:

Hunted follows ordinary people attempting the nearly impossible task of disappearing in today’s vast digital world, as professional investigators combine state of the art tracking methods with traditional tactics to narrow down the search area. From searching their target’s home and scouring Internet and cell phone histories to identifying behavioral patterns, they look for clues to potential hiding places and collaborators that can ultimately lead to capture.

Hunted is a compelling new alternative series [that]… combines the suspense of a crime drama with the thrill of a competition reality series and some very topical social issues,” said new CBS president Glenn Geller in a statement.

Details on how to apply are forthcoming.

Awesome! I’ve been watching our UK version and it’s really good, such a great concept for a reality show! Looking forward to checking out the USA version :)

So basically “The Running Man” becomes a reality.

I was thinking the exact same thing, this is pretty close to the book’s premise, which BTW takes place just a few years from now. Though set a world dealing with a busted economy and severe violence everywhere, and concludes with a plane crashing into a major US skyscraper. What imagination this writer has!

Let’s not forget The Most Dangerous Game . . . King owed a lot to that.
