Fear the Walking Dead Ratings

Ratings: Fear the Walking Dead Runs Off With Record Opening

Fear the Walking Dead scared up some impressive numbers in its Sunday debut, drawing 10.1 million to rank as the No. 1 series premiere in cable history.

Among adults 18-49, the 90-minute kickoff scored a 4.7 rating, also a record.

The Walking Dead‘s own October 31, 2010 launch drew 5.3 million total viewers (making it AMC’s most watched series premiere at the time) and a 2.7 demo rating. At last count, TWD was drawing 15.8 million and an 8.2, with its Season 5 finale.

Fun fact: TWD‘s most recent season opener had 10.1 million viewers… just in the 18-to-49 demo.

The previous cable record was set earlier this year by AMC’s Better Call Saul, which debuted with 6.9 million viewers (but had the benefit of an original Walking Dead as a lead-in).

TVLine readers gave Fear an average (and decidedly lukewarm) grade of B-.

Popularity of this genre boggles the mind

The next question is how many will tune in for the second, third week etc?? Time will tell!

Did not watch the last season, and won’t watch this one. It’s just the same old thing all the time, very repetitive!

  5. I am pretty sure this isn’t the highest rating in the history of cable tv wasn’t AHS or SOA, or BB bigger in previous years, um yea. You cannot take a show like FTWD and expect it to be better than TWD it’s an original of it’s kind. I think FTWD and Z nation will be good shows but they won’t ever beat TWD.

    • Series premiere, not any episode. The only Breaking bad episode rating that came close to this was the finale. American Horror Story and Sons of Anarchy rarely got over 5 million viewers through their whole runs. If this show even retains half of that 10 million, it’s a huge success.

Why does every site keep using images of this blonde zombie chick? Was the entire episode about this one zombie? It makes the show look like some teen horror b-movie. Ugh.

No surprise there. Of course everyone is going to check out the premiere episode. The tell-tale sign will be ratings in weeks 4, 5 and 6.

That was a waste of 11/2 hours. Wanna bet viewers dop by about 40%
