The Tonight Show: Jimmy Fallon's Contract Renewed Through 2021

Jimmy Fallon is getting (even) more comfortable at NBC.

The network has renewed Fallon’s contract for an additional six years, ensuring he’ll be Tonight Show-ing through the fall of 2021, president Bob Greenblatt announced Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

Added Greenblatt, “Jimmy is the best that there is. How elated are we that he’s going to be around for a long time in the role he was born to play?”

He’s just Loren Michaels golden boy. He’s still the WORST interviewer on all of late night. Take away the games and singing and there’s nothing worth watching.

    • HAP says:

I agree that he is a terrible interviewer. Colbert may just knock the Tonight Show off its pedestal, and Greenblatt will look like a fool for such a long contract extension.

    • Carla Krae says:

Yep, the interviews are so silly. And guests get less time in interviews than on Leno’s Tonight Show. Guests are there to talk, so let them actually talk!

Very happy to see Fallon do more Tonight Show until 2021. Any word yet on Seth Meyers and Late Night? Meyers still doing great as host of Late Night after his amazing run on SNL and as Weekend Update anchor.

*sigh* He makes me miss Leno sometimes. He’s ok, but his constant giggling and singing just gets on my nerves some days. I definitely agree with those who say he sucks at interviews.

In January Antenna Tv is going to show uncut reruns of Johnny Carson opposite Fallon’s show.. Hope they’ll also show episodes of his show with some of his subsititute hosts, like Joan Riviers! :)

Meh. Sometimes it’s funny. More often than not, I’m rolling my eyes at the 12-14 year old boy humor.

Like Fallon on Late Night a lot better. He needs ask the question, count his breathing as he listens until the guest comes to a complete stop or a certain number. Lately it’s been getting worse, he keeps saying “yeah yeah yeah” instead of responding to what the guest’s said or interrupting before they finish. Like what he has to say is more important than the what the guest does.

Looking forward to seeing what Colbert will bring to late night.
