Olympics 2016: Ryan Seacrest to Host Late-Night Show, Live From Rio

Ryan Seacrest will be knock-knock-knockin’ on Rio’s door, as host of NBC’s late-night coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The American Idol front man previous served as a corespondent for NBC’s coverage of the 2012 London Games.

“The late night atmosphere will be electric,” NBC Olympics EP Jim Bell said in a statement. “And we’re thrilled to have Ryan Seacrest in the middle of it all capturing Rio’s unique flavor, talking to Olympic athletes, and telling the stories of the day.”

“I appreciate Jim Bell’s confidence, along with everyone at NBC Sports,” Seacrest said. “I can’t wait to reunite with the team of broadcasters and producers for the 2016 Rio Olympics, and I look forward to hosting the live late night show.”

The opening ceremony for the Rio 2016 Olympics will be held Aug. 5, 2016.

I love Ryan, but still haven’t forgiven him for unleashing the Kardashians on the world.

  3. Mr. Tran K says:

It would be great to see Seacrest host the late night coverage of the Summer Olympics next year in Rio.

  4. Simon says:

Why is NBC shoving Seacrest down people’s throats? I remember the annoying NBC poster boy, Matt Lauer pushing for him to takeover NBC Olympics at the last Winters game. And he was terrible.

  5. AngelWasHere says:

Ugh they are forever giving this dude a job.

  6. Are you kidding me.... says:

Well, here’s another reason to skip the 2016 Summer Olympics. I can tolerate almost anybody but this totally annoying person. He will probably have Kimmie K, as a “guest” co-host–ugh, no thanks.

  7. bos4ny3 says:

Why do networks persist in thinking that having Seacrest as a host of anything is going to entice people to watch? Don’t they know that he turns off as many people as he attracts?

  8. Robby says:

So who is NBC trying to ‘Jay Leno’? Fallon or Myers?

  9. Abe Froman says:

NBC does realize his last show only lasted two episodes, right? Maybe we just aren’t that into him. Please consider that, NBC

  10. Ronnie says:

Because there’s no one I think of more when I think of world athleticism, sports, and/or samba than Ryan Seacrest. Seriously, why on earth would they do this?

  11. Mandie says:

Yeah, because having an ENTERTAINMENT personality hosting a nightly coverage for an international SPORTS competition makes a lot of sense.

  12. Jake says:

    This man is beyond annoying.

I watch Olympics late night live from Rio 2016 because Ryan Seacrest is hosting, NBC chose a fun guy. From Grace Baine
