House Creator's Sneaky Pete Pilot Gets Second Chance on Amazon

As anticipated, Sneaky Pete — a drama co-created by House‘s David Shore and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston — will get a second chance at life via Amazon Instant Video’s unique pilot preview process.

Amazon will debut the pilot on Friday, Aug. 7, after which viewers can provide feedback on whether a full season should be ordered.

Originally developed (but passed on) by CBS, Sneaky Pete stars Giovanni Ribisi as a a con-man who, after leaving prison, hides from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete. He thus moves in with Pete’s unsuspecting family and is roped into their bail bond business. To maintain the charade, “Pete” must chase down criminals worse than himself, all while discovering a family life he’s never had.

The cast also includes Marin Ireland (Homeland), Margo Martindale (Justified), Peter Gerety (Prime Suspect), Libe Barer (Parenthood) and Shane McRae (Still Alice).

Also getting a preview from Amazon on Aug. 7 is Casanova, a drama pilot directed by Oscar nominee Jean Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) and chronicling a little-known period in the life of one of 1the 8th century’s most famous playboys (played by Diego Luna, Y Tu Mama Tambien).

So Amazon will pick up this but not Hannibal, a show they already own the streaming rights to? Makes zero sense. *shakes fists at sky*

    • Steven says:

Amazon wanted to pick up Hannibal, but they wanted to start work on the next season very quickly and Bryan Fuller needed time to plot out the course of the season prior to production. In the end they were unable to agree on a timeframe that worked for everybody.

  2. Maria says:

I like Giovanni Ribisi very much. But Mr. Shore?…no thanks.

  3. jasie says:

Wonder why they are releasing these two now when they have a handful of other pilots filming. Seemed it would be better to wait and do them all like in the past. Neither of these sound great but i do like Ribisi and Cranston but never like House so i dont know about Shore.
