TV's Steamiest Sex: Watch Pulse-Raising OITNB, Scandal and Thrones Scenes (*If Your Boss Isn't Looking)

Heat waves are baring down on both the east and west coasts this week — but instead of pushing our exhausted air-conditioning unit to the breaking point, we’re waving the white flag and giving in to the swelter of it all.

That’s right — Team TVLine is contributing to record high temps by recollecting the 26 steamiest, sweatiest, blush-inducingest sex scenes ever to grace our TV screens. Don’t come here looking for flowery declarations of love and Victorian-era wrist-grazing. To paraphrase a really terrible Limp Bizkit song, we did it (aka this photo gallery) for the nookie.

From Orange Is the New Black hate sex to a Scandal hookup that made us never want to come out of the closet, these scenes are scorchingly bad — and that’s goooood (yes, with five O’s, if we’re not being too subtle).

Check out the pics and video links below — or click here for direct access — then tell us how you feel about our picks, and any good’uns we might’ve missed!

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Joey says:

No Sense8 orgy = not credible?

  2. Brian says:

Glad to see Moonlighting on the list. I also like that you chose the Libby & Robert scene from Masters Of Sex instead of an obvious Masters & Virginia scene.

  3. Drew says:

Was the Outlander scene the only one that was about some sort of character development and not just cheap thrills?
    The Buffy/Spike relationship was gross.

    • Wordsmith says:

It’s funny you say that, because that Buffy/Spike scene was definitely much more about character development than cheap thrills. Their whole arc that season was about how despairing and self-destructive they had become, which eventually leads both of them to get their lives in order. The fact that it’s gross is kind of the point.

      • Drew says:

Buffy/Spike became became more about the writers needing to get out more after a while. But yeah, I get what they were going for. It was still gross. Spike was a monster. He slaughtered people for fun. There was no magic McGuffin like a restored soul or anything like that. He was just a monster. For Buffy to go there wasn’t a dark time for the character, it was a low point for the series.

        • Brigid says:

ALL vampires slaughter people for fun, that is their food source. Spike was no different than any other vampire on tv and yet the human always falls for them and it makes for great tv. I don’t get your point except that you probably just wanted her with Angel because to me, the Buffy/Spike storyline was dark and twisty and changed both of those characters for the best. I thought Season 6 was one of the best seasons of BTVS and was a high point of the series.

    • Tracy says:

I never understood why we didn’t get a Buffy/Xander relationship for the final season! I loved Buffy and Angel but I always thought Xander and Buffy had something! Never liked Buffy and Spike!

  4. abz says:

How is Sense8 not in this list? It should probably be #1.

  5. Cass says:

If I were to choose the hottest romp from True Blood it’d have to be Sookie and Bill from season 1 when she thought he was dead and then just emerges from the ground they go at it then and there. I say this as someone who is not a fan of that pairing.

  6. Angela Stewart says:

    Missing Lost Girl scenes

  7. Juls says:

I’m not sure what the fascination is with Libby when she’s a racist pig!

  8. Ash says:

As much as ADORE outlander’s wedding episode since it is a pivotal part in the books, I think the reckoning sex scene with Jamie and Claire was much more well..more haha. Even watching that scene by myself at home I still had to look away at times because it was so intimate

  9. TeeshaWills says:

You should’ve added Supernatural Dean and Cassie sex scene. The rolling around the bed, the whole “thrusting” thing Dean was doing to Cassie was HOT!

  10. Riana says:

Emily and Ali was much hotter and real.

  11. Fernanda says:

Patrick and Kevin from Looking… Too hot, too nutty, and too cancelled.. Why HBO why?? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  12. B says:

Scandal had a few great ones in the first two seasons – so hot; Outlander really needs the three separate times for the full effect; still adore Sawyer and Kate for the level of emotion and the perfect musical score.

Sense8 needs to be on this list now too for sheer sexiness.

  13. You clearly haven’t seen Sense8 Ep. 6

  14. grace says:

moonlighting was the best, the kiss in the dream sequence episode was also incredibly sexy

  15. pirate says:

Sense8. You know, which scene. Nothing else even gets close to that hotness.

  16. Tracy says:

Sorry but General Hospital’s Elizabeth and Nikolas when they made love the first time was wayyyy hotter than Carly and AJ! Go to YouTube if you don’t believe me but these two melted the TV screen!

  17. Tatjana says:

    And Sons of Anarchy?

  18. Kelly says:

The Grey’s Anatomy scene was it for me. They had such amazing chemistry together. The scene doesn’t really show anything bad it leaves it up to viewers imagination and that is sexier than just putting it out there!

  19. Jessica says:

Meredith and Derek’s prom sex was everything. So sexy and full of chemistry, I am going to miss them so freaking much!!

  20. AnnieM says:

This is going waaaay back, but Steve & Kayla’s first time (during a heat wave, no less!) on the roof of her apartment building on Days Of Our Lives.

  21. Steve F. says:

Good choices – I would’ve thrown in Helo and Boomer’s hookup in the rain (Battlestar Galactica, Season 1).

  22. Kim says:

Castle and Beckett!!! Up against and shutting the”front door”! 4 years of build up!

  23. Alice says:
