Ratings: Sharknado 3 Takes a 30% Smaller Bite Than Part 2

Syfy’s Sharknado 3 consumed fewer viewers than its predecessor, drawing on Wednesday night a total audience of 2.8 million — down 28 percent from Sharknado 2.

Among viewers in the coveted 18-49 demo, Sharknado 3 drew 1.1 million, down 31 percent from last year’s entry.

Of note, the NBCU-shilling threequel performed best with Females 25-54 and Adults 50+. TVLine readers gave the disastrous pic an average grade of “B-“ (compared to Sharknado 2’s “B+”).

The original Sharknado debuted to 1.4 million total viewers in July 2013, with 570,000 landing in the 18-49 sweet spot. Sharknado 2: The Second One greatly improved on that, delivering 3.9 million viewers, 1.6 mil of whom were in the coveted demo.

Syfy already has put Sharknado 4 into development, starting with an online poll that went live Wednesday night and ostensibly will let viewers have a say in whether Tara Reid’s plucky April survived the latest installment’s very final scene.

I DVRed it. They should really premiere it on a Saturday or Sunday. How am I supposed to playing the Sharknado drinking game when I have work in the morning?
