Hannibal Saturday Ratings

Ratings: Hannibal Steady in Saturday Move, Aquarius Hits New Lows

NBC’s Hannibal christened its new Saturday time slot with 1.24 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, dipping 10 percent in audience from its most recent Thursday outing yet steady in the demo (matching its series low).

Leading into NBC’s cancelled thriller, the already renewed Aquarius (1.57 mil/0.3) fell 36 and 40 percent to new season lows.

The Peacock’s numbers are pending possible adjustment due to MLB preemption in Philly.

Saturday’s only other fresh broadcast fare, CBS’ The Millers, wrapped its truncated second and final season with 2 mil/0.3 and 2.1 mil/0.4, on par with its week-ago tallies.

CBS’ 48 Hours reruns led the night in both total audience and in the demo.

I wonder how much the early streaming availability hurt Aquarius? I watched the whole thing a week after the season started, so I am not watching now. If Nielsen people do the same thing, that would explain the current ratings.

Because ‘Aquarius’ is plain awful. Won’t be surprised if NBC still cancels it.

It makes me extremely happy that Hannibal stayed pretty steady despite the move, and the fact that it still aired in Canada on it’s old night (which allowed a lot in the US to watch on the Canadian network’s website, along with Amazon Prime). They thought moving it to Saturday would effectively kill it off for good, but we’re a consistent, loyal, albeit, small group of fans who are in this for the entire last ride.

One wonders how many American viewers knew it had moved. I never saw it streaming across my screen anywhere and if people don’t check online sources like this, how would they know?

I also wouldn’t rewatch episodes I’d already seen online.

If one is old school, there is the newspaper or a printed TV Guide. More tech savvy folks might have programmed reminders set up by their onscreen tv guide.

I think NBC is REALLY regretting the early renewal decision for Aquarius. REALLY regretting.
