Ash Vs. Evil Dead Trailer: He Came, He (Chain)saw(ed), He Conquered!

Can one man alone fight the forces of Hell? You bet your Ash he can.

At least, that’s how it seems in the new trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead, unveiled at the Starz series’ Comic-Con panel Friday.

Based on Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell‘s film franchise, Ash vs. Evil Dead picks up 30 years after the events of 1981’s The Evil Dead; Ash (Campbell) is still coming to terms with what went down at the cabin, when he’s suddenly forced to go to war against an army of deadites.

Also announced during the panel: The series will premiere on Halloween — Saturday, Oct. 31 — at 9/8c.

In the trailer, Ash gives viewers new to Evil Dead-dom a quick background on the story

Joining Campbell for the continuation are Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as Ruby; Ray Santiago (Bad Judge) as Ash’s sidekick Pablo; Dana Delorenzo (Barely Famous) as wild child Kelly; and Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as state trooper Amanda.

It’ll obviously feel a little different from the originals (e.g. there’s more than one character who matters), but it seems like they got the general tone right.
