Sherlock Christmas Special Sneak Peek: Holmes and Watson Travel Way Back — and Hit the Big Screen?

Don’t blame a certain Mr. Holmes for the long gap in between fresh Sherlock installments. As he points out in the initial trailer for the show’s upcoming Christmas special, “Dismembered country squires are notoriously difficult to schedule.”

The Benedict Cumberbatch-Martin Freeman Vehicle is slated to air “in the next year, we hope,” EP Steven Moffat announced while debuting the teaser. What’s more, the newest Sherlock won’t just be a small-screen event, but will screen in “select theaters” globally.

No explanation yet for while the present-day Sherlock has suddenly transported its characters into 19th-century frocks (and transport) — but whatever the case, it should be noted that Mrs. Hudson doesn’t appreciate being reduced to a mere plot device.

Am sooo looking forward to latest episode. Benedict Cumberbatch-Martin Freeman are one of the best Holmes-Watson team yet. Robert Downey, Jr. was rather convincing.

    Probably a mind palace thing.

I think Moffat has finally figured out how to have a Sherlock-Doctor Who crossover – transported back in time by everyone’s favorite Doctor.

Is it just me or does the opening music sound a bit like The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series’ opening theme (Jeremy Brett)?
