Transparent Renewed for Season 3, Months Ahead of Season 2 Release

Amazon has greenlit a third season of Transparent, well in advance of the Golden Globe-winning dramedy’s Season 2 release date.

On board for Season 3 are Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award winner Jeffrey Tambor, Critics Choice Award nominee Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass, while series creator Jill Soloway will continue on as showrunner, as part of her new overall deal with Amazon Studios.

“I am so thrilled that I get to share more of the Pfeffermans’ story with the world,” Soloway said in a statement. “We are all so in love with watching them change and grow. I am blown away by the creative freedom Amazon gives me and I can’t wait to reveal where this journey is going to take us.”

Transparent Season 2 only recently started production, with an eye on a Fall 2015 release date. Season 3 will drop sometime in 2016.

I suspect making Marcia’s children unpleasant is intentional. I mean, you can see they realise their mistakes as the story evolves. I hope they can learn from them.

I think this is a very beautiful series, about growing up and evolve as a person.

There’s no doubt that Jeffrey Tambor gives a great performance, but I find this show so dull. I watched the first few episodes and I didn’t laugh once and found myself actively rooting against most of the characters. His children especially are just awful. I appreciate what the show does for the LGBT community, but I just wish it were a bit more likable.

I agree. I gave the show a shot and managed to get through the first season, but it just wasn’t that great. Jeffrey Tambor was great in role, but the rest of the characters were so unlikable. The cheating daugher and her girlfriend, the annoying son. They didn’t get better with time. I don’t know if it’s worth tuning into another season.

came here to say the same thing. It feels a bit like a chore to watch, and leaves me mildly depressed. Nothing really happens, I too root against their kids. Jeffrey Tambor definitely makes the show (along with Judith Light of course).

Anxiously waiting for the Man in the High Castle, Alpha House, Mad Dogs and Hand of God! Also, season 2 of Transparent. Good job Amazon. You’ve got some great shows!
