The Simpsons Divorce Drama: Homer and Marge Speak Out, Slam CNN

Still buying into those baseless rumors that Homer and Marge are divorcing next season on The Simpsons? Well, the scuttlebutt is once again being shot down — this time by Homer and Marge themselves.

In a new video released by Fox, Springfield’s reigning king and queen blasted reports that Season 27 would find them going their separate ways. The couple called out CNN for being the chief instigator.

“Homie and I are here to address baseless rumors that we are going to split up,” Marge begins. “The story was first reported on CNN, then the real news started reporting it all over the world… ” Homer later interjects to say, definitively, “Marjorie and I are solid as a rock!”

The pair then start bickering like, well, an old married couple, before taking yet another shot at CNN.

Watch the clip above and then hit the comments with an answer to this question: Why do you think The Simpsons (the show) — and The Simpsons (the family) — are going to such great lengths to quell an admittedly annoying yet ultimately harmless rumor?

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    Oh cool

  2. Gilded Lady says:

Not only is it an easy way to nab some publicity, I’m sure they’re trying to get more people to tune in to actually see if the rumors are real. I’m personally voting that if it goes beyond an episode, it will only be a few before things are back to normal. Real change is an anathema to the Simpsons.

    • Dude says:

Real change is an anathema to comedy. Comedy is all about presenting the appearance of change while staying relatively the same since the comedy comes from who the characters are.

  3. David4 says:

“CNN reported that we were break up, then the real news picked it up”. lol

  4. Christy says:

I think it’s a good effort to get people watching again.

  5. Tatharnio says:

They’re just riding the publicity train that came rampaging wildly out of CNN. Wouldn’t you do the same if a report was making the rounds about you, whether true or not?

  6. James D says:

still funny after 26 years pretty amazing.

  7. Bark Star says:

“Home and Marge, how do you feel about your corpses being raped for more than 15 years now ? Do you hate Fox and the mindless TV masses for not letting you rest in peace but rather make you endure acts of Necrophilia over and over again, every week ?”

  8. Paul says:

    1) A sub-par 2014-2015 season.
    2) Letting Shearer walk away, and recasting his most well known characters, aka “second Darren” syndrome.
    3) Whether Marge and Homer are divorcing is likely the least of their problems. Just take it out behind the barn and put a bullet in it, already, Fox.

  9. Mel says:

Has no one noticed that Homer was fed drugs by his “new friend” before they slept together? Had their genders been reversed EVERYONE would be talking about the rape that happened.
