X-Files Revival: Mulder, Scully Reunion Takes a Backseat in First Photo

The X-Files Photo

Reunited and it feels so… green-screened?

Fox has released via Twitter the first official image from its highly-anticipated X-Files revival, and it shows David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully in the backseat of a green screen-enveloped town car, as series creator Chris Carter looks on in a monitor.

The six-episode continuation will premiere on Sunday, Jan. 24. In addition to Carter and returning series leads Anderson and Duchovny, cast members Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis will be on hand for the event series, as will writers-producers Glen Morgan, James Wong and Darin Morgan.

Check out the image below and then (after you’re done squealing with excitement) hit the comments with an answer to these questions: Where do you think Mulder and Scully are being taken? And who summoned them?

So, something mysterious happens and the FBI reaches out to the two people most qualified to handle the situation. This would be the scene where they’re driven over to the meeting where they are probably going to be wooed back into the mix, right? Kinda like the last movie, only I think we should all agree that the last movie just never happened.
As bad as that movie was, I’m kinda excited to see this revival. I know that I’m setting myself up for disappointment, but it’s exciting. I was just watching the season 3 episode “Revelations” and at the end, Scully says something to the mysterious boy about hoping to see him again and he says “You will”… and I kinda smiled, because it probably won’t happen, but it *could* happen now.

So Scully looks ready to go, but I guess Mulder still hasn’t left his den since the last movie.

There are set picture all over Tumblr. They filmed a scene with Joel McHale yesterday. So weird to see Mulder and Scully back in action after all this time!

Am I the only one that’s a little sad (for lack of a better word) that Scully’s not going to be a redhead anymore? I know it’s a small and trivial detail, but…

    • Grey says:

She wasn’t really a redhead in the last “X-Files” film either (or least not the same deep shade of red she was in the series and first movie). But I think most of us fans are trying to forget that second movie. ;D

Yeah, Scully was always a redhead. I didn’t even see the last movie so this will be jarring, for sure.

      But, Yay!!! Mulder and Scully!!!!
