The Vampire Diaries' Michael Trevino Reflects on Six Seasons of Tyler, Previews His 'Emotional' Finale Exit

Vampire Diaries Michael Trevino

For the record, Vampire Diaries fans, Michael Trevino is damn proud to be television’s first human-turned-werewolf-turned-hybrid-turned-werewolf-turned-human.

“I’ve pretty much covered all the bases,” Trevino tells TVLine with a laugh. “It’s been a wild ride.”

But like all good things, his time on the show must come to an end, specifically with the conclusion of Thursday’s season finale (The CW, 8/7c).

“It’s funny to think the finale is airing this week,” he says. “It’s been a crazy six years, not only looking back on Tyler’s journey from Season 1 to now, but all the deaths in his family and the changes in his love life. Our writers and executive producers did a fantastic job with what they could. The werewolf storyline is pretty specific, which is why most of my scenes were with either my girlfriend or Matt Donovan [laughs]. Werewolves and vampires don’t really mix.”

He adds, “The Vampire Diaries has been a huge part of my life, and it will continue to be. I’ll be forever grateful for it.”
