Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Headline PBS Civil War Drama

This has “Classic Schmosby” written all over it!

Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Returned) are set to star in PBS’ Mercy Street, a six-part Civil War series from executive producer Ridley Scott (The Good Wife).

The 19th century drama focuses on two volunteer nurses (Winstead and newcomer Hannah James) working on opposing sides of the war. Radnor will tackle the role of Jedediah Foster, a southern surgeon who comes from a slave-owning background.

Gary Cole (Veep), Cherry Jones (24), AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries), Peter Gerety (The Wire) and Norbert Leo Butz (Bloodline) round out the star-studded ensemble.

The drama will premiere with veteran Downton Abbey in early 2016.

I have no idea what has been occupying Radnor’s time since the demise of HIMYM, but of the five core cast members, he is really the only one with no credits since then.
