Descendants Trailer Conjures the Kids of Maleficent, Cruella, Other Baddies

The demon spawns are coming…

Disney Channel has released the trailer for Descendants, its contemporary two-hour movie that introduces the teenage offspring of classic villains Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil and Jafar (played by Kristin Chenoweth, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Maz Jobrani, respectively).

The pic, from High School Musical vet Kenny Ortega, bows this summer.

  1. After the Marvel movies and DC TV shows, this looks like bad cosplay, lol.

  2. rachelle says:

I’m so excited for this movie! And I don’t get excited for stuff on Disney Channel like I used to 10-15 years ago. I love fairy tales and this movie looks cute and fun!

10-15 years ago? That should make you too old to be excited for things on the disney channel

      • Tea says:

        She’s allowed to be excited.

      • rachelle says:

Lmao! Ummmmmm you do know Disney makes things for kids and adults?? They promote the idea that no one is too old to be a kid. Let me guess. Should I stop watching Disney movies and never go to Disney World again? Smh. Lol, who are you?

  3. iHeart says:

it’s about time we got a trailer for this, I was starting to think that was going to end up being straight to on demand or something

  4. Morgane says:

Just after watching Once Upon A Time why are you doing this to me ?

  5. Mark says:

Sadly super excited for this. Might it turn into a tv show afterwards?

  6. abz says:

This looks seriously bad, even for a Disney Channel movie and the costumes are absolutely terrible. I can’t believe they managed to get someone as great as Kristin Chenoweth to agree to this.

  7. Cam says:

And I thought Once Upon a Time was bad…

  8. Jennifer says:

My daughter & I are looking forward to this, but after seeing the trailer, isn’t this just a knock off of the Netflix series “Ever After High”?

  9. Mr. Tran K says:

Don’t know who’s a better Maleficent: Angelina Jolie or Kristin Chenoweth.

  10. Trevor Hale says:

Concept is fine, but the execution is sadly weak. Could have been a much better film if they’d taken the initiative to cross promote and expand their brand by using the actors that have played these villains previously on ‘Once’ but maybe that’s just because ‘Once’ does tends to do a good job of bringing these types of characters to live action.

Maybe I’m just biased though, in Disney thinking anyone could play The Evil Queen now that Lana Parrilla has owned that role…

  11. Alyssa says:

    I really wanna see this

  12. Alyssa says:

I am so exited about this movie

  13. Herb Flynn says:

It’s ONCE UPON A TIME meets HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!
