Pilot News: Jamie Lynn Sigler, Grimm Mother Among Latest Castings

Jamie Lynn Sigler

Jamie Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Grimm) and Cara Buono (Mad Men) are among the latest actors to book pilots this winter.

Per our sister site Deadline

* Sigler will co-star in Fox’s multi-camera comedy Fantasy Life, the story of a man (Entourage‘s Kevin Connolly) who gets a job hosting a fantasy football show. Sigler is playing the show’s “strong, confident, attractive, smart” sports analyst. She will also serve as an executive producer.

* Mastrantonio has joined the CBS drama pilot Limitless, based on the 2011 Bradley Cooper movie about a powerful drug known as NZT. The Grimm alumna will play Nasreen “Naz” Awad, the FBI agent investigating NZT.

* Lesley-Ann Brandt (The Librarians) is replacing Lina Esco as Maze, a female demon who befriends the titular character in Fox’s Lucifer. The change was reportedly made after the pilot’s table read; Brant had previously tested for the role.

* Buono has joined the cast of NBC’s Endgame, a drama about a dangerous conspiracy in the high-stakes world of Las Vegas. Buono is playing Alex’s (Philip Winchester) ex-wife Ginny, a surgeon and recovering alcoholic.

I just hope Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio will have time to pay an occasional visit to Grimm. The Kelly Burkhardt episodes are always great.

I was asking myself that same question. What about her character on Grimm? I mean her story has not really ended there beacuse Nick’s mom has Adalind baby and eventually that baby has to show up on screen and mama grimm will have to show up for the baby story development. But like you said I hope she will pay a visit from time to time at least to give closure to her story if she will no longer be part of Grimm

Yeah, surely great. It is very convinient to jump from one show to another one without even seriously getting into the role, isn’ t it? This is a today’ s feature called acting in tv shows. And she is not an exception, besides her acting was never great, she is recongnizable in any role and all because there is no time to prepare for the role/character, and besides no need to…Why to do that if one can be sure that his/her weak perfomance will be accepted well by regular folks anyway.

she is a well known potboiler. since early 90s she never got any decent roles, there are many negative comments about her in different forums. she is snooty and snobbish in treating anybody around, her acting poor and all the same.

it’s really unfortunate decision for this show to get her onboard. can cost you guys the ratings decline as many people simply can’ t stand her. why not to choose someone much younger at first place and more professional?

    strange decision.
