Ratings: Voice Dips to Premiere Low, Sleepy Hollow Finale Flat, Molly Slips

Sleepy Hollow Cancelled Renewed

NBC’s The Voice opened Season 8 with 13.6 million total viewers and a 4.0 demo rating, ticking up in audience while off just a tenth from its fall premiere, and up 5 and 22 percent from that cycle’s finale.

Compared to its year-ago spring opener, though, The Voice slipped 15 percent, and hit a series low for a premiere.

Leading out of that, The Night Shift’s Season 2 premiere drew 5.5 mil and a 1.5, down in audience yet improving in the demo versus its Season 1 finale (6.1 mil/1.1), which aired in July following America’s Got Talent.

ABC | The Bachelor (8.9 mil/2.6) was flat; Castle (7.7 mil/1.7) dipped 9 percent in audience but ticked up a tenth in the demo.

FOX | Gotham (6.5 mil/2.2) rose a tenth, while Sleepy Hollow’s Season 2 finale (4.4 mil/1.4) was steady.

CBS | 2 Broke Girls (8.5 mil/2.1) and NCIS: LA (9.6 mil/1.6) each dipped a tenth; Mike & Molly (8.8 mil/2.0) and Scorpion (10.5 mil/2.1) both slipped two tenths.

Question for Matt: is this season’s 2 Broke Girls going to run 22 episodes instead of 24? My gut tells me yes.

  2. Eric7740 says:

NBC please be smart and back down to one Voice cycle a season.

    • David4 says:

When was the last time NBC was smart? Having a gay figure skater do pat of a pre game show for the Super Bowl? Yeah that makes sense. Or moving Blacklist to Thursdays and losing half the demo? Or maybe 1968 and 1969 when they canceled Star Trek!

    • Tran says:

Having one cycle of The Voice in the Fall and another cycle in mid-season should do just fine like what DWTS did over on ABC.

  3. FOX better renew Sleepy Hollow last night Finale was awesome :)

    • Tai says:

It was! It made my excited for what’s to come. I’ve been kind meh about this season but the last few episodes really got me interested again. I’m really hoping for a season three.

    • Lucas Corso says:

It was awful. Cancellation would be a mercy killing at this point.

    • Rich says:

Yes, agree that SH was really, really good! It had a nice, crisp fast pace…lots of suspenseful moments and surprises. I loved the beautiful hug Abbie gave colonial Crane as she worried about her best friend facing headless–very touching as she has a hard time displaying emotion after her childhood. Love each time Ben Franklin is a part of the show…so hope it gets renewed if we are to expect more episodes like this one. They should reduce the number to 15 to tighten the arcs though.

    • Katrina says:

We loved the Sleepy Hollow finale! Can’t wait for next season.

      • Leigh says:

Our house adds two votes for Sleepy Hollow. The SEASON finale set up a host of possibilities for future shows! So looking forward to another year.

  4. TicaTica says:

Happy for Castle. I liked it last night, and improving in the demo is great!

  5. Carla Krae says:

DVR’d Night Shift during Castle, then watched before we went to bed. Glad to have this show back. :)

  6. Harry Wild says:

Just say The Niight Shift TV series just after The Voice and I think it great drama!

Where can I find the first season to watch it? NBC.com only has two episodes on their server. It has only 1-3 minute clips of the first season.
