Pilots: ABC Orders Flesh and Blood Thriller from Scandal/Grey's Vet

ABC is Flesh-ing out its pilot orders with a thriller from a Shondaland vet.

The network has given the go-ahead to Flesh and Blood, a thriller from onetime Grey’s Anatomy/Scandal producer Jenna Bans.

The potential series centers on a politician’s son who shows up nearly 10 years after his presumed death and rocks the local community. His reappearance, naturally, has repercussions for the neighbor jailed for his murder and the police officer that handled the case.

In addition to writing several episodes each of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, Bans created the one-and-done Shondaland drama Off the Map, and before that wrote for Desperate Housewives.

Bans will pen the project and executive-produce alongside Mandeville Productions and ABC Studios.

    • TVNerd says:

I forgot to include Flesh & Blood as a 2 hour limited series during Grey’s and Scandal Midseason break since The Taste has garbage ratings

    • Rook says:

Why is The Middle getting axed? It’s been consistently well in it’s time slot. Yeah it might not be Modern Family big but its solid.

      • TVNerd says:

It is aging/expensive and I don’t seeing it continue forever, soon to fall in the high 1’s plus Goldbergs is a stronger lead-in, but what do I know?

        • David4 says:

It doesn’t matter. I agree it’s getting close to the end of it’s run now that ABC has The Goldbergs and Blackish. However it’s 100 times more likely that Fresh Off the Boat won’t make it to a second season than The Middle only getting 13. If ABC was wanting to to fill a Wednesday timeslot next year they would have stuck it on Wednesday this year.

        • Unlike Revenge which has already sunk below a 1 but you think that’s a-ok.

    • M says:

The Middle is not being axed and would not get a reduced season… It is a solid consistent player for them… If anything it may be moved to Tuesday’s if they are going to try to do the Tuesday comedy thing again

    • No way, that’s way too many series ending at once next season, at least 1 of them should end this season instead of being dragged into the next one.

I really hope ABC moves Nashville to Sunday’s I know there’s something about the music and iTunes ans it’s not the night for it but Sunday’s is better then Wednesday for it. I can shield should also be moved to Sunday’s after once . That would be one banging Sunday’s Once, Sheild, and Nashville

  3. Marco says:

Sounds good. Now, ABC just needs to order the Derrick Storm pilot so he can apply the OUAT/AOS style of two half seasons to Castle and air the DS show in the hiatus period and I think we’re set.

  4. DL says:

Of course, once said politican’s son reappears, the city’s criminals suddenly begin to get taken out by a bow-wielding vigilante in a green hood… ;-)

  5. Brian says:

Nashville wouldn’t be a mid season show next season because it needs another 22 episodes to reach syndication numbers.

I have no idea what new shows ABC will pick up because you never know.
